I really want to cycle this suspension and see how it flexes. I'm thinking Prairie City would be a good spot to mess around....

Testing the 35's, Suspension and My Skills at Prairie City OHV Park!

Over the weekend I took the LC to an OHV park by my house. There I was able to test out the new 35's, suspension and my VERY GREEN four wheeling skills!

Ended up going solo, with my son and a friend riding shotgun. Since this was my first time really testing the cruiser, I didn't want to take to many risks without an experienced spotter. I had a blast of a time, and put a little experience under my belt.

I wish I had more pictures, or even video, but still managed to get a couple pics. I went over some of the smaller rock beds, and managed to get some two wheel, titter-toter action! After driving up some (steep for me) hills, playing on some rocks and yes, going through some small mud pits, I worked up the courage to drive up one of the stair step walls.

It was the beginner climb, but I am a beginner... It was there that I learned that wet muddy tires, and lockers do not work well together on a steep wall. It makes your truck turn on its radius and go nowhere. leaving the front and rear axles unlocked, let me climb up the hill MUCH easier.

The pics I did get....Notice in the first pic, I got the L/F and R/R off the ground, that was FUN! I thought the truck did some pretty good flexing action for what I've got....:steer:

No rubbing, still some room....The Nitto M/T's did great gettting out of the mud holes. They didn't even hesitate to make traction, a huge difference from the Nitto A/T's that were on there.

Great pics, looks like a fun time :) Nothing like getting out wheeling for the first time.

Relocated The A/C Dryer....

I pondered both purchasing an A/C dryer skid plate or relocating the dryer, like the earlier 80's, by the battery. I thought there must be an easier way to move this by carefully bending things around....

I forgot about this for a while, until FJFOOL posted a thread asking the same question. It was in that thread, I got the details for doing this mod.

It was just a matter of trimming the bracket, carefully bending the dryer upwards, and using the right side mounting hole to secure it in place.

The end result has the dryer completely out of the way and secure. And best of all it was FREE!:D

Nice work! So all the lines will bend easily to lay it sideways? I ended up pushing mine up a few inches and trimming part of the bracket but it still hangs too low. I like this idea...

Lines bent real easy. I was still very careful where I put pressure, to not cause any kinks. The dryer still sits at a good angle. You can see the angle through the marker light hole on my ARB.

Ya, I have the same AOE bumper on my 80 as well and I did the same thing. It sits perfectly sideways with no issues to the AC functionality.

Sorry I couldn't join you out at Prairie City Sunday - We had family commitments all day - great shots - looks like you had fun.

Great thread man - loved every bit of it. Looking forward to wheeling with you at some point. I bring my kids often too. Cheers on great work!

No worries, going solo the first time allowed me to get used to things at my own pace...I can't wait to do it again, then follow up with a real trail ride!

Thanks for the kudo's:cheers:

do you have a link for the relocation of the ac dryer thread? also, is the dryer supposed to be straight up and down? wonder how the angle how it sits will effect the AC system? was going to make a skidplate for my slee bumper but it it does not effect it much just might move it up out of the way.

The thread just contained the question and the answer to, if this mod was ok and possible, and minor instructions. The pics and details I gave pretty much sum it up....Coolstream vendor gave the ok on functionality of it.

Here is the link for you....https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/717595-c-dryer-location.html

MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK:hillbilly:

Since installing the MUCH heavier and slightly larger 35's, the truck has started to downshift much too frequently on the freeway hills. This setup has noticeably slowed me down.

I decided to advance the timing slightly from 3 to 7 degrees, and man what a difference!!! Now the truck runs just like it did with the smaller lighter A/T's!!

Interesting. No adverse effects? Temp?

Nothing but a smile on my face! I don't have a scan gauge but engine temps on the dash are good. Unless your boosted or have an engine in poor condition, you should be just fine. Besides, it only takes two minutes to dial it back if needed.

Fuel economy should go up a tick as well....

Sweet rig ...excellent thread and write up on mods etc ... .. if i can get my 80 even half as good as yours i'll be very happy.
