Finish around windows (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know whether the matte finish around the windows is some sort of paint or a sticker? I can't quite tell, because whereas I can see a distinct edge inside the door jambs, it's in suspiciously good condition for a 30 year old sticker.

Has the vehicle above been repainted or is the black just faded??

AFAIK the original paint (on US spec FZJ80's at least) in the areas above the belt molding (door window "frames", B, C pillars, and around the rear side windows) was IIRC originally a Satin Black paint which IME fades to a Flat/Matte like finish. It was not a sticker. The Australia only "Blue Marlin" model was painted all blue, no black accents. (Edit: There are more variants in other markets that didn't get the black accents, see below)

All factory panel stickers are intact, so I assume the paint is original (but who knows). I polished the regular paint, which made a night/day difference, but did not polish above the beltline, because I thought it might be a sticker. It's probably the satin black paint, but gakked over with 30 years of patina.

Must be some kind of 2K unicolor from factory. I recently used 9005 matt black to partially paint the window frame which matched the existing paint well enough. Although I'd try to polish the existing paint up first its tempting to just repaint the whole area.

The Australia only "Blue Marlin" model was painted all blue, no black accents. There might be other variants out there???

My maroon 80 is all maroon.
my grey JDM was all grey.
No accents. I think most are like this

It's paint done by Toyota. Given what yours looks like my biggest criticism would be that it is somewhat faded. You can polish/wax it back to a nice satin finish normally.

Maybe I'll hit it with a cleaner wax. I don't want to make it shiny by polishing too aggressively.

Is it possible to get this tweaked with desert tan instead of gold, including the flares (mine is deflared), and possibly wheels tan as well? Thanks I saw this today... it's close to what you wanted.
