Finally joined the 200 Club!
After 3 months of constant searching + researching, I was finally able to find a Southern LX570 within a reasonable distance.
New to me you guessed... 2014 Silver Lining Metallic LX570. ;)

So glad that I went with a larger and more potent 200 series (had GX470 before). :rofl:
The build quality is just amazing and everything is beefier!
This forum was an enormous help during my quest and so glad that I could be a part of this great forum!

Now, I need to catch up with the basic maintenance and basically plan to change all fluid in the truck and start fresh.
Still debating about the AHC fluid change... didn't see any record and I'm fairly sure never changed it before.
The recent batch of bad AHC fluid still concerns me and wondering if I should wait or service it from a local Lexus dealer.
The truck has about 160K and any other things to service or to look for?

Many thanks in advance!

Congrats! Build plan?

I wouldn’t trust a Lexus dealer to know about, care about, or stand behind issues bad fluid might cause with the pump. I’d wait until they sort out these issues first.

That said: congrats! These are bad ass rigs and you’ll end up loving it more than you thought you would.

Thanks for the advice!
Yes, I will just wait until the fluid issue is resolved first.
I’m already in love with this beast! :)

Congrats! I'm also from ATL also and picked up a '14 silver lx recently. I didn't see an ahc flush on my records either so I'll be waiting til spring of next year to get that sorted. My mod plans are the same as yours so I'll be looking forward to seeing what you'll do.

Nice!
We should have a local LX gathering someday if not happened already.
Congrats as well!!

Congratulations! She looks beautiful! If you have the money to do it right now, then get the dirty AHC fluid flushed out, just so you have that piece of mind. When the AHC has been maintained, it's amazing, when it goes wonky, it can be a complete nightmare if you don't know how to work on it. I have a 2004 LX470, and when I bought it, I was completely naive to the AHC system...until my front passenger side shock went out, and I got quoted $1,100 just to fix that one shock. Lexus told me it was so spendy b/c they were going to have to rebalance the entire AHC system after they ended up installing that new shock. Ultimately I ended up, completely removing/bypassing the AHC system and installing Old Man Emu suspension and so far I have no complaints.

This summer when I was looking at 200's I found locally a 2013 LX570. I took it to Lexus for a pre purchase inspection. The first thing they did when I pulled into the service bay, was start adjusting the AHC suspension. When they did this, AHC fluid started leaking everywhere. They told me to get that vehicle out of there, it was garbage and not worth purchasing. They said they would not repair the AHC system, unless I had a completely new system installed and that was going to run $9k-$10k. That little incident at the dealership steered me away from LX's b/c I didn't want to go thru another AHC trial & tribulation

Please don't take my post as me trying to scare you or to make you worry. I just want a fellow Lux Cruiser brother to be aware. I loved the AHC when it was working. The 200 series AHC is far more superior than what was on the 100's. Also alot of people have not had any issues at all, and there are others who have. The main thing to keep the issues away, is to keep the AHC maintained.

Guess I am late to the party. I didn't know anything about bad AHC fluid being distributed, can you fill me in ?

Fellow ATL resident and recent silver LX570 owner. Would be great to meet up with some fellow stockers for a trail ride.

We have been doing meet ups roughly monthly at Lake Lanier. I missed the last one. There’s a thread in the local forum.

As I type this it is the sixteenth thread in this section, and has been on the front page for at least a week.

Not sure how we let more LX owners know about this but it is very important.

Yea my bad, seen/read all bout it.. I don't feel as bad now since that is a fluid I have neglected to change (115k miles on the clock-:grinpimp:)...

Like OP at this point you are definitely better off letting it go.

Someone did point out in that thread that ravenol makes an AHC fluid, and based on their other stuff I'd have no problem running it. I don't have an LX though.

Have fun with the lx! I saw in a post on the 100 forum that they were filtering ahc fluid. This was three or four years ago; I don’t recall the filter media . . . I should go look it up.

Also don’t worry too much about ahc, the vast majority of lx (they sold in 2.5x the number as tlc) are doing just fine. We get the most posts on it because if you google it mud is the number 1 hit.

Thanks for the info and suggestions!

Gorgeous truck. Congrats!

Simple things that are easy to tackle:
* Spark plugs
* PCV Valve
* AHC flush
* Cabin filter
* Front/rear wipers
* If your seats are still in good condition put a top coat on and help them last longer
* Coolant drain and fill with fresh Toyota red (if its questionable)

From there on, there are tons of things you can do to make it your own.
