Hi everyone, newbie w/ month old, new to me 97.
I may have seen a few of your cruisers before, lived in NM my whole life and have been a long time Toyota fan(always notice a nice yota). Just a little background on me: I'm 32 this month, recently divorced(last month) and have two awesome kids(ages 2 1/2 and 1 1/2). In the past I have had a 92 pickup, an 89 ext cab pickup, a 91 4runner(the ex's now), and a 85 4runner. I now have an 86 fj60 and my new 97fzj. I haven't done any rock crawlin, but interested, just dirt/sand off road type stuff. I consider the 97 my dd, kid hauler and all around 4wd. I can't wait to take it camping(with next chick), do outdoor things and go almost anywhere I want, when I want or need to (that doesn't require lockers, for now).

Well, hello there! Welcome to out little piece of MUD. We always appreciate fresh meat, er, new members.:grinpimp:

We had a meeting last night. Too bad you didn't make it. We are very family friendly at our meetings and events so don't be afraid to bring the kiddos. Your 100-series LC will surprise you at how capable it is, and we do have at least one other in the group (Ron). Of course FJ40s and 4Runners are better.

Welcome to mud and HDC! Hope you can join us at an event this summer!

Welcome!

We had our monthly club meeting last night. These meetings are a great way to get to know each of the club members, meet our families, and talk about Toyotas or whatever you want to talk about. The next meeting will be in August and I believe we set the date of Saturday, Aug 9th.

We have an outing planned in 2 weeks. Things are a little "iffy" right now but it is looking like a camping trip in the Jemez with some light 4-wheeling, probably as you describe dirt/sand off-road stuff. Watch this section for more discussions. Kids are welcome and strongly encouraged on every off-road event and at the club meetings. We are a family-friendly club.

Lockers are not a necessity for our trail rides and we have a lot of un-locked trucks every time we go out. You might be interested in our 2nd annual Moab trib in October. See that thread for more information.

Welcome - as a newbie myself, you are in the right place. The members of the local TLCA chapter are a wonderful resource and offer advice on the trail or in the shop. We go out on excursions (both short and long) on a regular basis. It is all fun. See you soon.

Welcome!

Great group of folks here. Of course you have to put up with thier sarcasm.

Anytime you feel like wheeling post up, and I'm sure we can get a group together.

Looks like time to plan a run. Anyone else interested?

Depends on when. I have a bit of time between an upcoming vacation next week and training out of town in the middle of Aug.

Pretty much any weekend works for me. I finally found quite a bit of free time and only catching up on my own house work. First time I cut my lawn this year and actually turned on the sprinklers at my house??? Anyone else have a time they would want to make a run?

Why don't we think about this weekend in the Puerco? It's a good introduction. I think I have my kids on Sunday.

I am good to go for this weekend. I may have two others to introduce to the group (my brother recently bought a '96 fzj80, and another in a Taco). Does anyone have a CB I could borrow if they go? 4DFNDR2, are you up for this weekend? Or anyone else, Paul?

On saturday I'm helping my sister move, but sunday might be a possibility.

Rudy,
I have 3 CBs for loaners. I think they all work and have mag mounts and cig lighter plugs. We are leaving for vacation on Friday so let me know if you want to pick these up this week.

Thanks Mike,

If you don't need them, I could use one or two spares (I guess it depends who goes). Sounds like my brother is out. Not sure if 4DFNDR2 has one or will make it. I don't think the taco I'm inviting has one. Hopefully we can figure out who is going for sure and I can swing by pick up a couple of them.

Onur called earlier today and he has dibs on one for his Lake Powell trip. I think there will still be 2 available. You should plan to pick them up on Wednesday or Thursday evening between 6pm and 9pm if that works for you.

That works for me. Just wondering who is going. I guess I could pick them up and if no one needs one for this run and you know anyone else who needs to borrow one they can give me a call, I will be in town for the weekend.

I'm planning on it - outing for the kids and I.

Saturday you say.....

I'll see what I can cook up....

I'm not totally positive that I'll be in town on Saturday, and I need to figure out what crapped out in the FWD on the faux-lux (something electrical--time for SAS in my book), but put me down as a "maybe." If I'm in town and the faux-lux is still being cranky, I'll probably just steal Dad's 40 again anyway. :grinpimp:
