For Sale Feeler: 1997 FZJ80 Factory Locked, Dead Engine

I am posting this up for a friend. They purchased a '97 FZJ80 that is Factory Locked approximately 6 months ago. It has about 175K on it and the engine is about toast. The oil pressure dropped and it began knocking bad. A mechanic said it will need a new or rebuilt engine. We do not have the know how to make an engine swap worth while in the end.

I am putting this out as a feeler to see if there would be any interest since it is a good platform to start with. We just installed the OME "J" Spring lift and it has an ARB Bullbar. We also installed Man-a-Fre caster correction brackets.

We live in the Vancouver, WA area so you would have to be willing to pick it up. He would like to get around $6K yet any offers will be entertained. PM offers, suggestions, questions, etc to me.

UPDATED PRICE: $5500 OBO

Bump...

Looks like a good candidate for a diesel swap.

Yea, just looking for interest locally or someone who is willing to ship.

Updated price: $5500 OBO

Is that green or black?

Any additional pics including interior?

just an FYI since you ahve a lower post count-and presumable are attempting to ascertain the market for these for your friend.

typically 95-97s - high mileage 180k+ are garnering 3500-5500
lower mileage (sub 150k) are getting 5500-7500.
cherry (sub 100k) are typically ranging-7500 up.

given a dead engine--you can probably ascertain for your friend that it will be surprising to get more than the lowest running-highest mile versions.

obviously condition of things like interior-exterior-paint-lockers-assorted wear parts like axles-radiator-starter-ac system etc will affect price within those ranges.

every quarter year- these price ranges seem to be adjusting to the economy- gas prices- and numbers of vehicles/supply that are for sale- and being sold. The locker option does garner added interest in the LC offroad community-but again- most people are looking to do diesel swaps that are instantly adding 4-6k (if diesel) on top of the price of the donor vehicle for DiYers .........up to 20k for those looking to ahve someone like Proffitts do the work.

i hope that helps get your friend the info he needs to make a sale and move the vehicle if he is in a time crunch.

i bought a good running locked 94 for under 2k. it has fading paint and a dirty interior but IMO your buddies would be worth 2k....2.5K max if its in good shape.

I'd say it would sell at $1,500. The posted price is market price in good condition with maintenance up to date. If I have to replace the engine, I'm not spending much more than a bill and a half.
