OK, so I am a dunce.

85 FJ60 - cannot figure out how to change the rear wiper blade. The Haynes manual doesn't consider the rear blade replacement.

It is easy all you do is remove the old one and put the new one on.

Dynosoar:zilla:

Yes, and the only tool you need is your two hands (maybe just one).

Good luck fxxxer.

OK mudders, no hints for this guy. Next he will ask how to get the wiper fluid reservoir cap off.

Should come off same as the front. Hard to say if you still have original equipment but most release off the arm towards the base on a U hook or they pop off 90 deg with a pin a socket. Stop at your local parts store like Orielly's and they will do it for you.

Thanks Rekcut-

Thanks for seeing I was talking about the arm, not just the blade. My bad.

It is the original equipment. Will keep at it-

Can't wait till this prick needs help with something ^

The OP just joined the board, has 16 posts, said he felt like a "dunce" for asking about wipers... and you go Pirate on him. Nice work tough guy.

Photos of old assembly and new arm from O'Reilly's

I think if I bend these small tabs by my thumb, I can get the arm and blade off - but i don't want to damage it. Guessing this original part was made to just slide a new blade in - which I've done in order to repaint the assembly.

Douche bag

Take a picture of how it is mounted and we could help. Are you replacing just the rubber blade or the blade + frame?

Ummmmm...

"Feel Free to Make Fun"...

Lighten up girls, I was teasing. It was not long ago, truly, that I had not changed oil, done brakes or anything, and all that I know now, which ain't all that much, is because mudders helped me, showed me, and wrenched with me. Since when is ribbing and good natured joking around unwelcome around here?

Next thing you'll be telling me that "no" really does mean "no".

The piece your holding is usually held on with a circle tab. If that whole thing comes off then you can use one of the two adapters pictured above to make it work. It should also come apart higher up at the wiper itself. Inside where it pivots it comes apart

on my '84 FJ60, I pinched the wiper and 2 slim metal runners, and just changed the blade, like you said above. it is connected at each end, and twice in the middle if i remember right.

i also tried to get the whole thing to come off just like the front ones, which didn't work.

and also Manhattan, the guy did say to make fun if you wanted to, no need to protect his ego...amd also, everyone should go pirate every now and again...

only certain rear wipers fit. you probably have the wrong one. The fitting that matches the factory wiper is an oddball fitting. The circle nub is either closer or further than the common fitting (I don't remember which it is). Most wipers will not work. Try a smaller one like 11 or 12inch.
