Any plans for the February meeting?

I may be in town that week for work stuff.

I have a 30 min video I put together from Cruise Moab the Saturday Katie and I rode along with Evan on Hell's Revenge. If I'm not there I'll leave a copy for the meeting if anyone is interested.

hopefully see ya soon...

Hey Bob -

I hope you can make it to our meeting. It would be good to see you and hear all about Alaska.

I'd love to see the Cruise Moab video you made. I know Hell's Revenge was plenty exciting from the driver's seat!

We're planning the February meeting for Saturday, February 3rd, followed by the Super Bowl Snow Run on Sunday, the 4th. Hopefully you can make both events. If I'm driving, you'd be welcome to catch a ride with me. I'm not sure yet if I'm going, since I broke my leg skiing a month ago. The cast comes off this week, but I'm not sure what the next steps are for recovery yet. They will x-ray and let me know what comes next.

Keep us posted as you figure out your plans.

Evan

well, i calculated my work schedule wrong. i work on the 3rd. Steve, you may have to get your feet wet quickly.:flipoff2:

Actually, I might be out of town for that and the next meeting (to Reno for work). I'll let you know as soon as I do.

how about a consensus- saturday the 3rd, or friday the 2nd? Rory gets to veto either of those first, but any preference out there?

Friday works for me.

i did it again... SUNDAY the 4th or friday the 2nd.

I think Sunday the 4th is already scheduled for the Super Bowl Snow Run.

I think we can make it on Friday evening.

Evan

Friday evening will work for me.

I don't think I can make it Friday. May not be able to make the run on the 4th either depending on who is in the Superbowl.

Ummmmm, did you miss this editorial?

"Who cares about some dumb football game anyways? There are more important things to do like play in the forest with the buddies. Why sit on yer butt drinking brew when you can be practicing your extraction skills. And if it's really important to ya, we are usually back to catch the last 10 minutes, which are really all that matters."

If he wasn't from Louisiana and probably a fan of the Saints, I'd give him some grief about football being more important than wheeling. Then I'd probabaly throw in a little more about owning an FJ Cruiser instead of a real Land Cruiser........

But I'm not going to do that since I've seen pictures of how hard he wheeled his brand new FJ Cruiser in places I won't even consider taking my old piece of crap, I mean fine piece of engineering.

Actually, an FJ Cruiser is built on a Prado - FJ120. A real Land Cruiser. I know the Luddites among us don't believe anything with electric windows can be a real Land Cruiser, but they are. Sorry to disappoint you, but '80's *are* cool. Having been there and done that I can say it...

I have a confession to make though. I found out, during the third quarter, that my old team had the best record in football and was in the playoffs. Having been to literally dozens of their games, I had to break down, despite the 7 point method (or was it the 3 point method?) and heving been "on the wagon" for years, and vowed to watch the Chargers throughout the playoffs.

Fortunately (maybe...) they lost that game so I ended up watching less than half a game...

I admit it.... I'm a huge football fan. I am even bigger Saints fan though. I had decided at the December meeting that I would be on the superbowl run... but then I scoffed at the media saying the Saints would have a shot at the big game. I still can't believe they have gotten as far as they have... and I have a hard time believing they can win this one last game to put them in the superbowl. However, I will be on the edge of my seat with the rest of New Orleans. Win or lose.... I know it sounds corny, but they have brought a lot of hope and happiness to a very miserable city.

As far as wheeling the FJ in some "difficult" areas... that is what it is made for right? Sheet metal, axles.... they are all fixable. Since Jen and I won't be out here for much longer, I intend to take full advantage of the capabilities of my truck and have as much fun as possible. I would rather not bend it up if possible, oh wait... too late. A few "beauty marks" don't really concern me. It's not like it is a porche or something :-)

If it were the Chargers I'd have to miss the Superbowl run...

ROTFLMAO. Mike, you have no idea how funny this is. :D :D :D

FWIW, there will be a lot of closet Saints fans following them this week and hopefully next week. People like to pull for the underdogs... Charger fans (much of California) will be pulling for the Saints. And, like you say, a lot of people would like to see New Orleans have something good happen after all the suffering we saw on TV.

Unfortunately the pain for New Orleans is only starting. Lack of continued sediment transport down the Mississippi due to dams, combined with slow crustal deformation response, means that New Orleans will be an island off the coast by the end of the century if it's still there.

But that's another story...

I actually have no idea what other teams are in the playoffs now, nor will I watch any more games for awhile. I am firmly back on the wagon. ;-)

I know. I was just trying to see what kind of response I could get. I probably spent several hours one Saturday morning reading all about the Prado that is available in Australia. http://prado.toyota.com.au/toyota/vehicle/HomePage/0,4666,1701_582,00.html
In the US, Toyota forces us to call it a Lexus GX470, with all the oppulence and excessive price to go along with it. In Aus. you can get it with a V6 or a turbo diesel. A 6-speed manual is standard on the base GX model. What's this about cloth interior and steel wheels? What does ~$47K Australian convert to in US$? Well, at least the FJ Cruiser is basically the same vehicle with just a different body.
