The next morning did actually come a little early. I guess my sleep schedule was shifting to west coast time and i'm sure the tequila and beers last night didn't help either.
We packed up pretty quickly. For me it felt like a strange atmosphere; it was quiet, early, the sky was overcast which was the first time since we had gotten there that there was not a crystal clear sky, it felt like rain was rolling in. We all know that this was the end and now it was time for the haul back home and real life was just around the corner.
I was also a bit nervous to be honest because i had heard tales of cadillac hill. But, i felt like it can't be any worse than what we had already been through.
In my haste to pack up and jump in line to get out, i didn't mount the go pro and i also had my phone inside the console. So i didn't get any pictures

or movies of the exit. The pictures attached are stolen from Seth.
The goal was to get up cadillac and rally at observation point where Tom wanted to share something with the group. We also had heard that you can pretty much guarantee carnage on Cadillac and it also can make it a parking lot. Dad and I were wanting to try to make it to Fallon, NV that night and get a hotel so we could have a proper shower, so we didn't want to get stuck on the side of a mountain until 4:00 in the afternoon.
Just before we jumped back on the trail early in the morning i crawled under the truck to check for loose bolts or any leaks. Everything looked good so we jumped on the trail.
I was second or third in line, i don't really remember, but the exit started out pretty tame. Then, we started to get on the north side of a mountain so it began to get really shady and wet. Wet! That was really the first "muddy" spot i had seen on the trail so far, it kind of almost, just a tad, kinda sorta felt like tellico; shade, mud, rocks, mountain side down to the right....

you know, roll to your death kind of thing.
We got into a few spots that were starting to get tight, and that's where i jinxed myself. I looked at dad and said "I can't believe i've been on this whole trail and hadn't got a single dent! I was sure i would have gotten a dent somewhere."
And... then we got to the pictured area where the guys in front of me had pulled up and away so i didn't see their lines. I was just feeling confident and felt like i could get this no problem. Tried to swing out wide left of the big rock on the right, as we went up the muddy rock face on the left i started to tip like crazy! Holy S$*t we both said. I then lifted my front left tire and then slide down and BAM.... i was resting on my pasenger side rear door right on that huge boulder.
Well, so much for the dent comment i thought. Then i decided it was more important that the darn glass wasn't broken and could still close... i rolled the window up, it worked and i told dad we were in it now. I turned on the front locker and slowly scraped my way down the rock and tried to line up for a pretty large rock climb. This was pretty darn intense, actually one of the most intense sections we had been on and i was nervous. The BFG's started digging and i slowly crawled, all four digging each on their own up the loose and wet rock slab. I made it! Wow that was amazing and i now have a souvenir.
Observation point should be just around the corner..... or, the next corner..... or at least after this next big boulder field.... surely, it's around the next corner....
