Hopefully this should give some insight to those who want to run high speed off-road setups on their LC's. I finished setting up my king shocks only to have them damaged after a high speed sprint through the desert. The resulting damage was i sent the control arm ball joint bolts clean through inner fenders and just missed my brake lines by a hair. After further inspection, i found that the rear shocks were in fact damaged and lost all their oil from a severe landing that wasn't caught on camera. The Upper control arms for the front require a bump stop extension spacer so that the bolts never get close to the top of the inner fender as well as not to hyper extend the ball joint bolt out of place. As for the rear, the 90 degree fitting for the hose on the shock body came into contact with the frame and sheared off since the shocks attitude changes as the axle moves up and down. On full compression it is possible to contact the frame, i will solve this by turning the shock body around and extending the reservoir hose. Here are the damage pics:
Ball joint bolt with the hole punched through the inner fender
Top view of the hole with my finger almost through it and how close it came to the brake lines
Right rear blown shock
And to give you guys a good show, heres how i wheel out in my part of the world
