fan clutch or direct drive fan

Hi,

I have a direct drive fan on my 1982 FJ40. The question is, did it come like that from the factory? Which FJ40s came with fan clutch?

My 72 is direct drive, which I prefer. Soon after they added a fan clutch and a whole lot of other stuff.
