I’ve searched and seen a few threads on fake spark plugs. I’ve also checked out some articles and YouTube videos, but I can’t tell if these specific plugs I bought are fake. Yes, I bought them off Amazon a while ago, but they were from an American store and priced about the same as other places. Take a look at the pictures. The boxes and markings on the plugs itself appear to be good quality. The tips also look like genuine iridium tips. But every picture/video of Denso Iridium boxes I’ve seen say that the plugs are made in Japan. My boxes say Long Beach, CA and on the plugs themselves, it says “Assembled in the USA with Japanese and US Parts.” I’m probably gonna just buy new plugs but I thought this would be a good discussion for future reference.

They look identical to the plugs that I bought from Toyota, except mine came in a Toyota box instead of a Denso box (for obvious reason). Mine also have “Assembled in the USA with Japanese and US Parts” stamped in them. Yours appear 100% genuine to me.

Those look genuine to me too. Take a look at post #30 of @2001LC thread Spark Plugs Alert! That is an OEM Toyota/Lexus box straight from the dealer and even it says “Made in the US with foreign content”. Those are the OEM Denso SK20R11 plugs

Denso makes plugs in the US (at least for the US aftermarket) not sure about other global markets.

Buy from a reputed seller.

Which one? Both available at advance auto parts near me. Or should I get it from a different shop or dealer?
Thanks!

Everything about your TT packaging looks correct. The key is the .4mm electrode. That is one of the reason I buy TT. No China or other knock-off factory can duplicate the thin electrode AFAIK. If you measure the tips at .4mm you'll know.

I actually had some I bought from ebay (can you believe it) made in Japan that came from Mexico by a FL seller. I've dogged him for a year now to restock, no luck.

Here what Denso states:
DENSO has started to sell IRIDIUM TT spark plugs having a φ0.4 mm iridium alloy center electrode and a 0.7 mm needle-type platinum alloy ground electrode.

The quenching effect has been decreased by forming the electrode into a double needle shape. As a result, the flame kernel rapidly develops and the engine's power is drawn out to its maximum potential.

I buy denso plugs from an ebay seller named

sixityauto

He seems to do lots of Denso products.

Great info, as always @2001LC thanks! No problems so far. I inspected and measured them a bit further when I installed them and they all looked good!
