I have the factory front skid plate.

Recently cleaned all of the old gunk off.

I am curious where to attach it.
I have a 74 fj55 with a 4 speed.

If anyone has any pics of one installed that would be awesome. Since I am a vissual guy.

Thank You

Theres holes on the underside of the frame which are threaded which you bolt the skid plate to. No pic sorry. I believe there is a hole in the skid plate which lines up with the plug in the tranny. You can use that as a reference. I've had mine on and off so many times now I could do it in my sleep. I'd make sure your done messing with anything in that area before putting it back on otherwise youll be able to do it in your sleep before long too.

Dont know if they are the same I would imagine they changed when tranny and tcase combos changed. As for making one youd probably be better off if you have some fab skills cause you could make it a lot stronger. I know a guy who constantly dented his skid plate on his 40 until he build his own from 1/2 thick sheet and has never bent it since.

when you say front skid plate are you talking about the splash guard? it goes across the frame horns and fron crossmember, basically under the front pulley of the engine. or are you talking about the side splash guard? it goes on the pass side frame rail under the fuel lines and above the d-shaft. or maybe you are indeed talking about the skid plate, which goes between the framerails under the tranny and t-case.

pablo i have 3 extra skid plates, i can bring my finest specimen with me to the swine-o-rama for ya.

Here is my skid plate

I did not mention this before. The skid plate was not installed when I purchased the pig. It was on the back seat.

So I have no bolts (what size/strenght do I need?)

Thanks for all of your help.

The bolts are size 14 head I think, coarse thread, you could get them from tpi or sor or one of those other places, or your local yota dealer. They are probably only a few bucks. Or you could just go get some different sizes at an auto or hardware store and try them out.

i believe the bolts are M8X1.25 half inch long is plenty. as clem mentioned if you affix your gaze upon the underside of the frame rails you'll see a series of threaded holes , just mach the skidplate up with them and walla !!

see you swine-o-rama with that skidplate installed:cool:
