I received three books for 2001 Land Cruiser. 5" thick total. Vol 1, Vol 2, Vol 2A.

As another data point, FSM for our '01 LX consists of 3 volumes...Volume 1 is primarily diagnostics, Volume 2 is the general servicing book. Part 3 (not identified as "volume 3") is the Electrical Wiring Diagram book. I bought all 3 from Helminc.com in 2009 when we bought the LX...iirc I spent the better part of $300. Best investment I've made on the truck... Not sure what "vol 2A" covers.

They have broken Volume 2 into two volumes. I am not sure why as volume 1 is the same thickness as the two volume 2's combined.
I do not have the EWD volume, am on the hunt for it used as I have not been able to locate it new.

Raising topic as I'm looking for a set myself. Are they much different from year to year? I have 2001 LX. On eBay I see all kinds of different ones. VOL1, VOL2, Electric diagrams. Which ones did you use most?
I see a few 2003 manuals, 2005. Are they all similar/same I guess?

RockAuto seem to be out of them.

@katit - I have a big single volume 'engine, chassis, body, electrical' book for my 99 (all that was offered in 99). This book will walk you through ANY repair that could possibly need done to your rig. The book does NOT include the diagnostic charts or wiring diagrams.

I've never needed the 'maintenance, preparation, specification, diagnostic' book. Wish I could find the EWD (electrical wiring diagram) book for ease of use, but I have the EWD downloaded and can find what I need on a screen.

It looks like the Lexus books are titled and presented differently.

Thanks! So, it looks like only VOL 2 make sense to have on hand?

Electrical diagrams seem to be available:

Volume 2 (+2A in some cases) has the repair info. Yes the EWD books are available, I've just never been able to find one for a 1999 for sale by itself.

The EWD book used on an '01 is actually titled "EWD 2000"...apparently no changes from '01 to '02

dang, whats new on 2a?
From what I can tell, the 'thinner' 2 and 2a books are the same as the single 'thick' volume 2. Seems like they just broke the big book into two smaller books.

One book addresses diagnostics the other repair, the third is electrical diagrams/connectors and I think there is a 4th printed for transmission but haven't seen that one.

There is a free complete digital 2004 version floating around somewhere that you can download. Or for about $20 you can get a 1 day pass on TIS and download all the sections for your model year. It will take you a few hours.

@johharis post
I have seen several people recently asking for a Factory Service Manual, I did a quick search and looked in the FAQ and noticed that the pdftown link is the one found predominately. Anthony L. had posted the link below previously. I am hoping that the search function picks up this thread title more readily. This is a direct download of the 2004 FSM which is almost universal for any other year 100 series. Enjoy. http://www.amoney.org/2004_LC_FSM.zip CLICK HERE FOR THE 2004 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 100 SERIES FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL

Alternate download site. 100 series Land Cruiser FSM (Field Service Manual) - TLC FAQ

Here are the individual chapter downloads courtesy of Perrobravo!

The last link works perfect! Perrobravo also did a sold by having all the chapters in a zip file, FSM.zip. So you can either download each chapter individually, like I was, but then saw the zip file. Thanks!

THIS needs to be in the FAQ pronto!
