Catalytic Converter opinion (worst exhaust work I’ve ever seen)

Hi guys, I recently purchased this 2007 LC and are chasing down the few issues it has. One of which is P0420 P0430. Previous owner has this work done at a local exhaust shop. (I think my 3 yr old daughter could have done a better install, but that’s besides the point)

Where would you guys go?
- through my business I could get these for $650 each? I’ve read all the other threads. On what to check first and how factory cats last longer. But starting with this mess just seeing where most of you would go on a 2007?

I'm in almost the same boat. My cats were stolen Memorial Day weekend, and I've been going round and round with my insurance and their "select service" shop they pretty much made me use to get the estimate done. Unfortunately, the shop ignored the estimate phase and just had the shop go ahead and fix it with universal single cats, a bunch of pieces all welded together (poorly), and the wrong screw-in O2 sensors. Total goat rope.

Was looking at the same Magnaflow OEM-ish replacement, and trying to decide if it's worth the fight with the insurance. Current AP Exhaust cats are probably fine at keeping the MIL off and passing Oregon DEQ, but is nowhere near OEM quality. Worth it? Roll over and live to fight another day? Interested to see who responds about this thread. Not trying to hijack.
 
I had one cat stolen from my 99 a few years ago and couldn't get OEM since they were discontinued. My insurance had no problem accepting an estimate from my shop of choice. I did end up going with a Magnaflow "OEM grade" and so far is has been fine, it's been about 3 years. It bolts on in place of the original as long as your front flange is still there.

Edit: If Toyota OEM is still available for an 07, I would go with that and push the insurance to accept it. That's what I would have done if the parts still existed for the older trucks.
 
When mine were stolen the insurance inspector came and saw the CAT gone, but didn't even know it needs 2 of them, they offered $600 settlement, after a call telling them that the OEM is 3 times Each that, part only, they settled me at $1280 or so total.

Even though it's a comprehensive claim considered vandalism, I'm still paying for that settlement by having increased insurance rates, even from other companies I quoted.

Insurance is a license to steal, and I won't issue another claim ever while I'm alive (life insurance can't raise rates after a claim, right?)

Because I couldn't care less about the CAT, wish there was a way to run straight pipe w/o CEL actually, and didn't want to deal with theft again, or protective plates under the rig, I just got the cheapest pos from rockauto.. that was a couple years ago, still running OK. (Walker brand I believe).
 
I ordered the ones from landcruiserparts.net. They are a bolt on replacement. Fit nice. I Installed them yesterday. We’ll see
