How frigging hard can it be? a motor and some stainless and some lights......my microwave is mounted undercabinet, my range obviously positioned beneath that. The microwave incorporates a vent to the exterior but it is insufficient. It actually doesn't suck enough! The microwave can fly out the window. I don't need it.
I want to make a ventahood and really pull some CFMs. Where the microwave is now will be a simple stainless box vent a hood.

I'd for once like to cook and not have the smoke alarm go off and the house stinking like roast lamb, etc. every dang time. Searing meats is a nightmare.

So what do I have to do to pull this off?

Check out bathroom fart fans. Squirrel-cage types can move serious air fairly quietly.
Or, just buy a hood. :D
