There are quite a few threads on the many head gaskets found on the gasoline F engine family. However I'm working on a large gasket kit project and needed to get to the bottom of a few of them in my own head. I figured having a single reference thread would be helpful. If this already exists, please share a link! I will continue to update as I get time to photograph additional gaskets.

Pic in post #24 in "THIS" thread.

You got me before I had updated the post. :D

I actually have a brand new OE 74 era gasket stock. I'll snap a picture of it tomorrow. The only gasket I don't know if I have OEM is the 69 to 73

I think I have one for a 69 -73 F engine it was in a kit I might have the kit label also.

This is not the nicest picture but here is one from my factory gasket when the engine was opened for the first time:

And the replacement I found (made in Spain):

I've been searching for a 68-73 oem gasket for a year, to no avail.

This is the head gasket I have.

Kurt, in reading this and then going back through your store website, are the 9/73 - 12/74 head gaskets not available, even in a Japanese aftermarket version? I have two of these engines in original trucks that I'm planning to rebuild the heads in the next year and was hoping to get a couple of HG's from you.

The applications, pricing and availability on the old site are not accurate. We are revamping all of our head gasket/regrind and engine overhaul kits to reflect our actual in-stock offerings and current pricing. That is exactly what spurred this project :D

This is a pic of a NOS 11115-60032 which I believe to be for sure 4/73. There is quite a few different models of this head gasket. In the end when I looked at holes that were blind on one side (head) they were not blind on the other. (Block) and vise versa. So the next model up in production was what I used and has been successful. So far.

The Lazorlite valve regrind set was sent to me by @ToyotaMatt that he has since the 90’s. The head gasket in that set was what I compared to the original head and block of my 4/73’ and it works.

Great intel. Interstingly, Lazorlite? seems to be using the now Ishino part numbers (that is the Japan stuff we are bringing in). I suspect they are one in the same company.

JHS10008-1 is a 73-75 head gasket set so that jives.

Alright, here is my conundrum, and this is what kicked off the project: As you can see we have verified OEM gaskets for all models BUT the 11115-60032 (69-9/73 F)

We have a vetted Japanese aftermarket (Ishino) 69-9/73 F head gasket kit that we've sold many of BUT it has 100% the exact same gasket as the 9/73-1/75 gasket. It's obviously very possible the aftermarket companies are simply making it cover more applications. I'd absolutely love to find a NOS OEM 11115-60030/11115-60031->11115-60032 to see what was different originally from the 11115-60033. Thoughts?

Playing the 7 mistakes game with the picture from Blastservices and the OEM 60033 I see quite a few of small changes:

Now comparing with my 1974 F.5 block and head, some weirdness I found:
In blue 2 blinds holes very close from each other but not lined, before 1973 the the headgasket was open there.
The mark in red under corresponds to a hole added in the headgasket in 1974 and re-disappear in 1975 but there is no water passage at this place, neither in the block or the head. So why??

That’s what I found on my 4/73’ head AND block as well. I’ll have to dig for pics

Something else I noticed…the last 5 of the part number of the head gasket that was listed to go to my engine was also the number casting on my head. This is a no air injection ported head.
No pics of the bottom of the head.

My head is 60034 and the block 60032 for a 60033 headgasket :playful:
But I think the F.5 was the first F engine with at least 2 versions of the head as some markets (US?) got dome piston?

There is something very weird with these casting numbers.
11411 isn't the partcode for the shortblock, actually it's the partcode of nothing so what does that means?

And xxxxx-6003x aren't the partnumbers of block or head in the EPC...

A F.5 block is 11401-60044 in the EPC.
A F.5 head is 11101-60075 for Europe and 11101-60091 for the US.

Where the hell are those casting numbers coming from?
I would have happily believed that it was the headgasket to use but as we saw the numbers don't match exactly and the partcode part on the block is not the headgasket partcode...

A last weirdness, in the EPC the F.5 head is superseeding the previous F head for vintages 72-73.
1648807324531.png

No superseeding for the block so not sure what a F.5 head on a F block would result... And which headgasket to use ? 😂 😅
