Anyone know what year the changeover was from the rubber trim rings to the metal ones? I have 2 66 trucks, one has rubber, one has metal. Didn't realize they were not interchangeable until I went to swap the metal ones to the truck that had the original rubber ones. No work so good. Looks like the regulator and the door release shaft changed at some point....I'm sure somebody knows when.

You have one window crank and one door lever. Those are not interchangeable. The early and later style levers and cranks are Interchangeable though. Make sense?

Window to window okay....lever to window....no workie.

I think they change in 66, but I have found mismatched sets on different years.

Yeah....I realize that I have one window crank and a door lever. Just what I grabbed for the pics.

Was more curious about the rubber vs. metal trim ring.

When I looked at the regulator and door release shafts in the other 66(it's on a storage lift so not easy to get at), they are 1/4" longer and the hole position is different for the pin that holds them on. So it's a change in the mechanisms. Haven't compared handles.

I have had both style levers on my doors. Currently I have the early style which seem more prone to snap off.
I am pretty sure they change over at the end of 65.....new style for 66.
I remember having issues with a window crank being to close to the door panel. I just drilled another home in the shaft and all worked fine.
Sorry.....i guess I am not helping.

On the truck we are building there are 2 holes on the shaft(for the door handle). One is at the very end...the other is 1/2" from that towards the door. The outer one is too far out to get the handle to go on, the inner one is in too far to squish everything down to install the pin. I kind of figured I would put a new hole in if if I used the metal rings. I'll just use the rubber ones. I was mostly curious if those were stock. I have only seen the metal spring style ones.

The later levers and cranks used those rubber pieces. The early ones used the metal spring loaded trim ring.

If that's the case, my truck that I bought in pieces might be a 65. I'll have to take a look on Monday.

I think I'll just stick with what I took off the truck originally.

Metal rings on a 65. Maybe my truck is a later 66 with the rubber. So it's probably safe to assume that the 67 had rubber ones.

Wonder why the change so late in production. That stuff is fascinating to me. Does the FJ55 run a similar regulator/door lever? Maybe on these low volume trucks, things run out and small batches have to be made to finish out a year or so of production.

I have spent far too long thinking about this! Ha.

55 stuff is different. Took me 4 wagons to finally get a matching correct set for mine.

Wow....4 wagons. I'm lucky....both of mine have all their stuff.
