I have been looking for a very compact and comfortable camp chair that takes up very little room in the vehicle. I have (2) folding chairs that I bought at Cablea's a few years ago that are very nice but take up a lot of room. I have to strap them to the roof rack because they take up so much space.

I remembered Vince had bought a couple of camp chairs a while ago called "PICO" chairs that fold up the size of a small brief case. I really liked those but the price is way more then a I wanted to spend on just one chair. I think they go for around $120.00 a piece.

So, I've been continuing my search for the best compact comfortable chair I can find. I went to Bass Pro today and found a "NEW" camp chair that is made by the same company that makes the "PICO" chair. It's called the "Xpress Lounger".

I like this even better because it doesn’t use "Plastic" where the legs come together, it's all metal. It folds out to a VERY comfortable captains chair.

The chair it self in it's folded dim are 17"x2"x16" it will hold upto 250lbs. It comes with a media pocket and beverage holder.
The best thing is it's ONLY $39.95 a piece! I bought (2) to keep in the vehicle at all times. Anyways, I thought I would pass this information to all of you that are like me on saving space and having a very comfortable chair. Here is a link to the company's web site and Bass Pro's if you want to order one or two.

Xpress Loungerâ„¢ Xpress Telescoping Technology - GCI Outdoor

I checked Bass Pro, I don't think they have updated their web site yet. But you can call your local store or order it from them online.

Interesting. Do they come w/the engineering degree required to assemble/disassemble for stowage?

Media pocket= weed and pipe storage

29 seems pretty expensive for a chair and while I agree the other ones will eventually break. With the way I treat mine they all will break somehow. I like the cheap ones. Plus they sure look a lot more comfortable than that one.

If you camping you could also look into a chair kit for a thermarest. I use that a lot and it serves two function in one.

Hi All:

Nice idea, but flawed: no drink holder! :grinpimp:

Seriously, I expected it to fold-up into a more compact package.

Thanks for sharing with us, anyhow.

Regards,

Alan

I think the cup holder/can holder is on the "passenger" side. You can see a glimpse of mesh on the outside of the armrest that could be a can holder. And he did say it has a cup holder in his review. It doesn't look that complicated to fold to me. First the back of the chair folds forward against the armrests and then the legs fold and telescope inside each other. It's not a single motion like most chairs, but still very easy.

Size matters when you are packing for a week or more on the road, so this looks like a decent packed size compared with most chairs. $39 is a bit high, but if the design is popular, then the cost will come down and you'll be able to pick one up at Big Lots next summer. Early adopters always pay a premium.

Remember the days when all we had were aluminum folding chairs with webbing for seats? Then "collapsable" chairs came out and the only place you could buy them was at Brookstone or REI for $69. Now you can get them at Wally World for $7.

I still have one webbed aluminum chair left I love that thing. To bad you can't find them anymore.

Yeah, I had a pair of nice folding captains chairs that Dick Cepek used to sell. Cloth seats/backs IIRC. They were comfy and lasted a lonnnng time before self destructing. I think that they were about $25. Also no longer available.

I have one similar to this:

Joe's - InStep Mesh Zero Gravity Chair

It is the most comfortable folding chair I have ever experienced. Picked it up at Lowes for about $40. I really like how it will lock in any position like a recliner. Only draw back is the lack of cup holders, but I'm going to do something about that.
