84FJ 60 put in HEI Distributor and weber carburetor on that I have an exhaust temperature I over 500° Looking for help do I need Cooler plugs Or change the Jets in the carburetor

Did you measure the EGT on the stock engine before changing parts?
I thought the 2F could belch over 700°F when pushed hard.

500 degrees doesnt sound too high to me. The actual manifold can glow orange after long runs on the highway under medium to heavy load.
