Thanks! I should that one a few years back, but it's made by AOE, American Overland Expedition. They make a nice bumper, but a lot of people are not happy with their customer service and lack of response. It's difficult to get a hold of them and can take months to get your bumper.

RUBICON 2016!

So my original plans for this weekend were the 3rd annual MUD trip up to Gold Lake/Snake Lake area. But work got in the way and I would not be able to leave early Friday morning. This place is too far to drive for just one night so instead tagged along with the other guys for an epic Rubicon run. Cannonballed it from Loon Lake all the way out to Lake Tahoe.

Camped at the Springs then drove out Sunday. Cadillac Hill was a mess. There was a good 40+ rigs, traffic forever. We sat on the damn hill for 2 hours waiting for the Jeep guys to spot each other over every pebble. Then someone would break. Then someone on open diffs would get hung up. This was the most irritating part of the weekend.

The truck did great, never skipped a beat. These guys I wheel with go fast. There's no spotting, no rock stacking, just go go go and radio in if you're in trouble. Forces you to become a better driver and pick your own lines. I really only had trouble on Cadillac Hill with an extremely tight spot, a tree right in the middle of the trail. Broke my PS mirror and scuffed the door a little. Other damage was on the DS rear door and quarter panel, but that was from Soup Bowl. And those that know Soup Bowl know it's noting to be taken lightly.

As far as difficulty goes, I thought the portion of the trail after Buck Island to Big Sluice was definitely the hardest part of the entire trail. I thought Cadillac Hill would be tougher aside from the squeeze in between the tree. Gatekeeper was much tougher than I remember. Seems like it's gotten really chewed up lately.

I'll start with a few videos. Soup Bowl, something I'd never thought I would ever try in this truck!

Apparently the line to take here was the far right

If you can't tell, I was trying to hold on at this point

The trucks and one 3rd gen walked up Soup Kitchen, not to be confused with the already insane Soup Bowl

AWESOME PICS!
EPIC VIEWS!
What a rad group of rigs & to think your rig has the smallest tires... 37"s... it's time to post your rig in the 40s & up thread.

Just Saying...

Thanks man! 40s would be awesome. But I really don't know if I wanna make the jump. I have everything dialed in with the 37s. I get lots of uptravel in the front that I would undoubtedly lose by going to 40s unless completely remove the fenders. Not to mention it's not that easy to adjust the air bumps on my setup. Even as it is I get a bit of rubbing at the top of the inner fender at full stuff, haven't addressed that yet.

That girl in the mini truck can drive!

Man she makes it all looks so easy. She crawled right up Soup Kitchen like if it were no big deal.

NICE.
Looks like the perfect wheelbase for that.

Daaaaauuuuuum! I've seen vids of guys just destroying their rigs on that, she literally just walked right up it, what finesse!

Did she build that rig herself? Pretty impressive looking mini!

Her and her husband (the guy with the bluish Tacoma).

HOOD LIGHT

You know I gotta say, this has to be one of the top 10 most useful mods. Can't believe I didn't do this sooner. Ordered the waterproof LED strip as shown on some other MUD threads. Got the 24" version with 60 LEDs in the cool white color for $29.99

WLF series High Power LED Waterproof Light Bar Fixture | Aluminum Light Bar Fixtures | Rigid LED Linear Light Bars | LED Strip Lights & LED Bars | Super Bright LEDs

The light seems to be really well built. I see this lasting for a long time. Mounted it under my hood using some 3M double-sided tape right behind the rubber seal

I ran the wiring behind the insulation and zip-tied it to the windshield washer tubing

I didn't want some fancy pants pressure switch to have the light turn on when the hood is opened. I don't always need the light on and sometimes I leave the hood open in the garage for hours. So I bought a tiny push-button switch at Radio Shack and installed it on the battery tie-down bar. Soldering the wire to the tiny terminals was not a fun task.

AND THE RESULT! Here's how it looks in my garage with all the lights off. This is a very accurate photo of the real output. This little light could prove invaluable on the side of the road or at the campsite at night. Heck, even in my garage I'm often in need of a bit more light.

So shut up, buy the light and slap it on.

Jose brillante en muchos sentidos..

El trigger rojo is very interesting and clever..

I have a bunch of posting from you to read, thanks for the documentation of your journey..

I sell those Vans sprays. They look fantastic. Whats great is you can not tell they have been sprayed at all. Stays nice and glossy. Only issue is that after a while, the heat from the fog light bulb starts to ruin the finish. It takes some time but it will happen. Then all you have to do is clean it off and do it again. Just another reason to do something on the 80.
Are they "Off Road" use only..

In europe they are totally legal, in fact encouraged in some areas (every military vehicle used them) but around the US you don't really see them that much, at least not on..

Everything is in Japanese on the can, so I am guessing they are "Offroad use only"

I'm a huge fan of the Vans spray. Used them on my 4Runner too. 2 years later and it still looks like glass.

Yup, been using them at the shop since '98 and I have some customers that have been on there for nearly 10 years, but garaged kept, you can't tell they have been sprayed.
