A little more than 4kI'd really like more detail on this hole and and "some other things" Can you get pictures from him?
I assume your buying a long block, what they going for?

Checked all fluids,I made it to a gas station but could only go adout 30 and still keep temp down and oil pressure up I've rebuild engines before but only 1990's and earlier.2UZs don't just fail. Ever. Sounds like something else occurred to cause the mechanical damage. Lack of coolant has and will kill a 2UZ.
If I had to replace pistons I'd have to do a complete tear-down ?Nice find! However, I'll challenge that's not a complete-loss failure. New valve, minor work on the head or even a replacement used head and it's all good. Far from "I need a new crate engine" level of destruction, isn't it?
Until I see a picture of the actual damage I'm going to say the mechanic was just plain wrong. It's possible to ruin a 2UZ piston, I'm sure... but it's extremely, extremely unlikely.
******* ****
I'll Paypal somebody $10 if they can provide verifiable proof of their 2UZ suffering a real, complete-loss-enducing, catastrophic engine failure.
Well the cost is said to be ~$1K engine + $500 parts (non VVTi). Head (both) job with parts is maybe a little more. So to ones wallet it maybe considered a "catastrophic engine failure"Nice find! However, I'll challenge that's not a complete-loss failure. New valve, minor work on the head or even a replacement used head and it's all good. Far from "I need a new crate engine" level of destruction, isn't it?
To be honest, there must be engine failures, surely. The only problem with the Burnt Valve link is that we didn't know the outcome, the op didn't post any updates.
