Did some inventory on my engine build project. Still missing a few things but getting there.

I'm sure some NLA list parts are already known to Mud, but one that seems to be newly unavailable is intake valve seats #11131-60010. There was a long back-order for exhaust valve seats, intake & exhaust valves but I got them. I placed an order through Amayama for the intake valve seats but they can't obtain these. I see that SOR offers them. Any other sources and/or recommendations?

Not so fun side note, the crown edge of one of the pistons I ordered is dented from what was likely a drop on the concrete. Hoping there's a replacement available. Parts are getting difficult to obtain.

It surprised me to find that the main bearing sets are no longer available through Toyota in either standard or first under, #'s 11702-60013 & 11703-60013. Extremely odd considering this is a standard wearable item and there are a lot of 2F's in the world. Fortunately Clevite appears to make these in both standard, 1st and 2nd undersized options. What confuses me is why these bearing are offered in a Tri-Metal configuration. I assume OE bearings are Bi-Metal so I'm curious if anyone has experience with Clevite Tri-Metal bearings and/or if you have any other recommendations. It's not that Tri-Metal bearings are a bad thing, just normally something you would see in a high performance application.

And now for the best parts from this round of inventory:

Alright, I’ll admit my 14 year old self is alive and well but there is a genuine tech question about the main bearings and a notice related to the new NLA part. Would love any advice on the bearings. Also, I had a member ask for a parts list so I’ll be posting that up later today when I get to my computer.

Had a member ask for the parts list so here it is. I'm also attaching the pricing based upon what I paid so its transparent about what you are getting into if you start this project. There's a local dealership that works well with me; they mark up about 5% over their cost but I don't have to pay for shipping and returns are easy if there is an issue. Sales tax in WA is steep at 10% so your prices may be lower. You may also be able to find better pricing if you look around online but regardless, this is an expensive project and I'm hoping this helps you benchmark so you can save money or know if you are being overcharged.

I will be magnafluxing the head and block, decking both and the manifold, cleaning/painting, boring cylinders 1st over, polishing and balancing all internals so probably about $3k+ in total machining expenses depending on what I run into. Totally understand I'm going overboard and could re-use some of the listed parts, totally understand I could buy a Mosley 2F for less, blah blah but this is a keep it for life restoration of the truck and I'm doing it for the originality and experience. One tip that people forget - replace your oil cooler when doing an engine rebuild. An old oil cooler can ruin a new engine because they tend to trap debris. You can get oil coolers inexpensively if you don't go OEM. The OEM oil cooler is priced as if it is infused with gold, frankincense, and myrrh but I'm throwing down since I'm trying to keep the restoration as original as possible. 4/1981 2F parts numbers:

Plug x4 would be for the cylinder head.😉

Have you sourced the Camshaft Thrust Plate? Mine is worn and needs replacing.

I feel you with rebuilding a 2F engine and main bearings. I am searching for the clevite 2087p.25 bearings in stock anywhere - I would have better luck finding a blue eyed unicorn at this point.

Everything is done except the main bearings (been waiting for 2 months for them to ship and it keeps getting kicked down the road). I might have found a different brand and there are pro's/cons that I have yet to see/experience it to fully understand.

For me/mine, the main bearings have oversized thrusts. After getting everything back from the machine shop, mine are.010 and the problem is the bearings have a .01 oversized thrust and my crank has a standard thrust that hasn't been cut.

Put it together once as the machine shop said it would be "ok" but when had it together, it had .000 crankshaft end-play. Had it remained that way - it would not be good.

After buying several "correct" bearings - went back to the machine shop and refused to put the engine together because there was no crank shaft end-play. They then said the crank takes a very unique bearing.

here is a mud link too I found post machine shop talk the last time....2F rebuild help! Main (thrust) bearing size issue - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2f-rebuild-help-main-thrust-bearing-size-issue.1064901/

And with the other brand (Taiho - M036A since .25) - have not tried yet (almost to swapping parts to see).... some have flanges some don't.... and we drink.
