Of all the people that have stopped thus far, nobody has a shovel? I would try to dig out of that. Would take a good hour looks like to do so. I don't think chains would help. I think your next mod should be a winch. Sorry about your situation. Also, couldn't the border patrol or police have taken your family to a hotel or something while you figure this out?

Man. This sucks. You'll get out. If i were closer, i'd be there in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, i'm on vacation in asia. GLWR (r= recovery)

Guys we are out and back on the road. Tow truck charged $600 to pull is out. Will follow up later with the story. Thanks again to all that reached out.

Glad to hear you will all sleep at home tonight and you got your rig home.

I edited your phone number out of the posts on the fb page. You should join up. Lots of nice people willing to help. And if someone is stuck near you, perhaps you lend a hand. It's a pay it forward group. I've never had to use them.....yet. Nobody seems to get stuck near pasadena. Maybe with El Nino I can pull out flooded cars.

Cool, man.
Glad you and your family are safe and good.
You now have a, "There was this one time at the Salton Sea" story to remember and tell.

good job @billygoats

Man - today's just not my day. Spent an hour writing out the full story only to have been automatically logged out which erased everything.

I'll summarize: I suck and it sucked.

I do have a huge problem that I could use some help with. I'm now experiencing some very serious vibration and what's strange is that it happens in a pattern like clockwork. I'll backtrack a little to make sure I give as much info on the issue as possible.

After we got pulled out, we hit the pavement and mud starts flinging everywhere. I notice a serious vibration. I head straight to a gas station to check tire pressure and its fine. We hop back on the road and I pick up more speed. I set the cruise control to 55 mph and suddenly the vibration comes on but starts slow, then gets violent, then slows, then goes away for about 20 seconds. After about 20 seconds (still cruising at 55 mph), the vibration comes back slowly, gets violent, then slows again to eventually stop completely for about 20 seoncds. The vibration lasts about 35 when it comes on.

As soon as I drop my family home, I head straight to a DIY car wash station and give the LC a 20 minute pressure wash (mostly undercarriage/wheel wells). I hop back on the freeway after the wash and the problem remains. Really at a loss here and could use some direction.

P.S. I'd like to be thrown in the hat for the bozo of the year award. Thanks.

Figured a little more info will help:

The truck is braking fine. It could be pulling slightly to the right but I didn't test this much. I'm sure the vibration is there at lower speeds but it becomes apparent at higher speeds (25 mph or so). The vibration was bearable at under 50 mph - above 55 mph and it became violent.

Could be a u joint if you rested on the drive shaft.

Sounds like something is out of balance. In the NE, i've had snow/ice buildup on inside of rim and cause similar situation.

There may still be a clump of mud in the wheels or driveshafts. It was also a hard pull. What was the attachment point(s)?

It's definitely the mud still stuck on your wheels.
