Do you suppose he is getting new tops for the molded tops from the previous shipment to put in this shipment? Inquiring minds are curious and starting rumors in the absence of facts.
:).. This is not the case.. The shipment that went bad has put up alarms and that is why I have stopped your shipment. I have been talking to people concerned and we are going to repack your shipment. We just recieved it back from Karachi (here in Isalamabad) and will re-open and repack to make sure that there is no problem.. I know this is causing delays but its better then getting molded tops and then going through all the hassel. The last shipment that went bad is being looked after but that IS NOT affecting this or any other group in any way.
I will be checking this thread from time to time and will answer all questions/concerns that anyone has direct. :)
Thanks
Ehsan

What does it mean that the last shipment is being looked after, since I am on that order I would like to know. I sent you an email over a week ago and you did not answer it, also sent it again yesterday. How about some answers for us on our order.

Hey, you need keep this in the other thread.

George was very good about sending me all the pictures and discussing what has happened at what is being done to rectify it, I can't imagine he won't do the same for you.

Thanks for the update Ehsan, disregard my email.

I figured you were traveling, so just drop me a note when you get back on track.

FYI everyone, I didn't mean to come off like an ass to Keil.

I asked to keep the threads seperate because I know those guys are having a real problem, and any discussion ought to be in their thread for the benefit of everyone in that group as well as to make it easier for Ehsan to sort out who/which group he is talking to.

I could just see Ehsan replying in our thread, then those guys chiming in here with questions, and the whole thing getting sidetracked and even more confusing, especially for Ehsan.

According to Mapquest, there are 7 towns named Islamabad, the closest of which is still a long, long haul to Karachi. That may help understand why he was incommunicado for 9 days, counting his time at the port retrieving our container.

Our group should be thankful that he dropped everything and drove cross-country to the port to stop our shipment, and we should hope for the best possible outcome for the other group.

I am confident that he is doing the very best he can, but remember, he is working under very difficult conditions (including the shadows of war) that are almost unimagineable from our perspective.

Thank you Chris for the nice words. Once we are finished with this problem, I will write a complete report on it and post it somewhere here .. :)

No problem- when you get settled down let me know what we are facing in terms of repacking and transporting back to port with an updated time table for the parts getting shipped... thanks. :)
:) Repacking and transportation costs to and back from the port and back again is totally on me.. :)..

After recieving our(fjwagon) shipment I notified Eshan of the carnage and he is doing the right thing by stopping(Valkyrie610) shipment. If he does not make changes now you to will get tops with meldew, mold, rust, etc. He is making changes on how it's packed and shipped. Also Customs has made changes in turn it effects the recieving end of the shipment. Long story short he is getting his ducks in row so everyone can be a happy camper when they show up.:).

Okay guys, here's the full update from Ehsan:

"I am sorry for the long delay in your shipment and the fact that I did not contact you with details of what is happening.
Your shipment was stopped here until I solverd the problem with the last one that went wrong. I did not want yours to be flawed.
My investigations have led to the conclusion that the soft tops and other stuff went bad and moldy in George's order because of sea water that somehow entered the crates.
In your order we have made new guidlines for the packing to reduce this risk. We are going to use a metal container instead of the wooden one. The tops will be sealed in plastic so no outside moisture goes in. The packing has nearly been redone and the shipment will finally leave here in the next week.
I will let you know the details in a couple of days.
Thanks, Ehsan"

Thanks for the update.

Okay, just got another update:

Hello there
I apologize for the delay again. I was finalizing the packing and crating to make sure the shipment is safe. The new crate is a steel one(unlike the open wood crate). The shipment is off to Karachi from where it will board onto the earliest ship. I will send you all the required documents when I get them from the shipping company.
Thanks
Ehsan

Okay, just got another update (12/26/06 6:43PM):
"Just got news the crate will reach Karachi the day after tommorow."

However, he said in this thread that the other group's order is in the exact same position as ours. To those that have expressed concerns about the delay and the relation to the other group's order, I have asked Ehsan for an explanation and will post it here.

I asked Ehsan point blank if the other group's order had any bearing on our delay and Ehsan says absolutley not:

"Your order was delayed not because of some manufacturing issue. It was delayed because we wanted to finalize the packing to make it more sturdy. The damaged tops are going in another crate to a different destination. Their irder DID NOT affect the or delay your order. Please clearify this to anyone concerned.
Thanks
Ehsan"
