It's me Keil. No I do not wish I had stayed with you. You see you still don't have your tops and won't have them until March. This is the timetable we have to work with... Our crate should be in Karachi today (12/29)
https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=1431179&postcount=258
Clearance and wait time at the port for vessel departure should be 5-6 days.
Shipping from Karachi to Seattle estimated at 30-40 days.
Total estimated time to Seattle estimated at 35-46 days.
Looks like we will all be "patiently waiting" until the beginning of March for them to be on our doorstep... almost a full year since this thread started.
Here's a timeline to keep everyone entertained...
3/27/06: Keil starts this thread
4/4/06: Keil bailed on us, I took the reins
5/10/06: Order closed and money wired
5/19/06: Money rewired
5/30/06: Receipt confirmed
7/5/06: Ehsan reports he has ordered canvas, begun work on bows and doors
7/20/06: Ehsan reports that 1/2 the bows and 1/2 the doors are done, estimates 40-50% complete (halfway done after less than a month?)
8/29/06: Ehsan estimates 20-30 more days left for the order to be completed
9/27/06: Ehsan reports that the work on the order is nearly complete (2-3 days from completion), should be at port within a week
10/17/06: Ehsan reports that the order is complete, due to concerns over packing material he will build a metal shipping container
11/4/06: Previous group's order was damaged upon arrival, our order was pulled from the ship... Keil wishes he would have stayed with us
11/14/06: Ehsan reports that he has recieved our shipment back from the port and is going to re-pack it
12/4/06: (Here's where I get confused) Ehsan reports that he had us in a wooden crate, and is going to build/procure a metal crate... just like he said back on 10/17...? He also reports that shipment leaves Islamabad for Karachi within a week.
12/22/06: Ehsan reports that he is finalizing the packing and crating to make sure the shipment is safe. The new crate is a steel one (unlike the open wood crate)...?
12/27/06: Ehsan reports that the crate will reach Karachi on 12/29 (today).
Sooo.... there it is. I didn't post this to try and make Ehsan look bad or anything, I just know it's been a long time for all of us, and there have been some inconsistencies in the reports that I'm sure will be sorted out when this is all said & done.
We'll get through it...![]()
Go to post #1, read the entire thread, start the next group buy.I am new to this whole deal but am very interested. I just purchase a 1972 Fj40 with factory soft top. The bows are in great shape however the top has shrunk and has a few tears in it. How do I go about getting on a list to get a new top? What are the color options? My original is white. Does the top come with new cloth for the doors? I don't have half doors i have the original soft top door. I understand that an order in the proccess of shipping now but is there going to be another order soon? If so how do I get on the list? I would be interested in the 1/4 rear windows and possibly a bimini top as well? Thanks for the info sorry for the lack on knowledge on the issue I just picked it up today and am very excited to get started on another project.
Thanks,
Patrick
