Was the 17% costs that pportmd mentioned including the air or sea freight, or is this cost above and beyond?

Thanks Dave

I am assuming above, but I have IM'd him for clarification. I will post all the info on this as soon as I get it. :)

One way to save on final destination shipping would be to ship multiple items if they are going to the same general place. I am in Los Angeles, so if there are others in the area they could all come here (or SD or SF).

As for the extra costs... I thought that was all included in the shipping into the country. And when you say 17%, is that 17% of the purchase price, or 17% of the shipping price?

I am still in all the way. I live in Ann Arbor Mi, not sure who else is in the area, but I would be will to drive a little ways if someone is not too far away.

in for a penny in for a pound

I figured they would all just come stateside and get doled out from Boston so no surprise there.

as for shuttleing the tops when they come in, I live outside of Albany NY and plan on driving out to pick my top up. I can load a few into my pickup and bring them home with me. So, that could save some people a couple of hour drive time if needed..... but, you would have to pay SB upfront before I take them..... I can't front the money for you:grinpimp:

Just an idea

so, are the tops here yet?:flipoff2:

so lets do an example to clear up some questions.

I paid $675 for the top
i will then have to pay shipping from Paki to US, $200-300?
Duty fees of 17% $100-150?
plus shipping and packaging from southboston to my house. $50-70?

is that everything?

Let's wait and see what pportmd says before we jump to conclusions. As soon as I have that info, I will post it.

Top Order

I am interested as well. Please let me know if anyone puts together a group order. I do not know enough about the process with Ehsan to do so. Thanks.

That's a very high estimate.

I ordered a complete top in in the last group order that received tops last fall '07. Here was the break down for air freight from Pakistan to USA and shipping from Georgia to Colorado:

Air freight charge $175
Duty and customs $20
packing materials $10
final ground shipping $32

Grand total for shipping $ $237

So, a complete top with bows shipped to my door was about $862 plus some paypal fees (tops were $625 at the time).

Like I said above...let's wait and see if the 17% was a total charge or on top of shipping.

i would still keep the estimate high so you dont piss any people off if it is going to cost more. I ship a lot of Harley Davidson parts overseas, and they charge the duty fee on the value of the item. It also depends if Eshan claims the items as gifts or permanent sale. The gift duty fee is very small percentage.

I wish they were gifts from Ehsan.

Well he could claim them as gifts if he does not supply a commercial invoice.

What is the value for Duty?
Customs assess the amount of Duty to be paid based on the declared value of the goods plus the transport costs to the country of destination

Are there any reliefs from Duty and VAT?
Yes, they include:
-Goods of £18 or less in value (excluding postage, packing and other miscellaneous costs) this does not include alcohol, tobacco products, perfume or toilet waters
-Gifts from one private individual to another providing the value does not exceed £36. (Exception: There is a very restricted gift allowance on excise goods but you are advised to contact Customs for further information)
-Personal effects of people returning to the EU after residing abroad
-Goods found to be defective or damaged or not otherwise as ordered. (Customs must be notified before qualifying goods can be returned overseas. Otherwise duty relief may be lost)
-Goods imported into the EU for processing and repair before re-export from the EU. (Your local office of HM Customs and Excise can provide you with further details)

I looked back at a past tread (Pakistan Soft Top from Eshan by Idus25 4/19/25) it looks like post #165 where pportmd was looking for the 16.5% cost for shipping from Pakistan to the states. I also read that this percentage came up a little short. There was also a post # 215 from Eshan stating that he was looking for a 2 year air freight contact that would be some what comparable to sea freight. Does anyone know if the last shippment to New Orleans ( pportmd) came in by land or sea? I can't speak for everyone, but I do like the idea of shipping by air to reduce damage never mind getting the shippment here quicker. By the way, has anyone been intouch with any of the last group order to find out any of these unknowns?

Thanks Dave

man, after seeing mdh33's ROTW, makes me want to change my khaki order to black. Can we start up a thread with just pictures of everyones Eshan tops? they are kinda hard to locate because they are in so many diffrent threads.
