The sh!t-show circus continues...

Advisor emailed me to share more of their good efforts, including taking the LX to another shop in town, ran by their ex master-tech that is apparently a "LX genius," to no avail. Told me the AHC pump they were expecting to receive today was shipped to another dealership in western Canada, and that the only other option would be a pump coming out of California, which they are "hoping to see by the end of this week." That means best-case I get my LX back in ANOTHER week (we're already three weeks into this fiasco).

My patience has ran its course.

Called the advisor and (politely, but firmly) ripped into him for two minutes straight. Told them to disassemble the brand-new LX they have on the dealership floor and to put the parts into mine. Waiting to hear back after he talks with the service manager.
Good call. Or maybe they can send a courier over to the Vancouver store and get your pump.

You have had a hell of a streak of issues, both with the car and everything else. Truly hope this gets sorted out for you ASAP and you get some well earned adventure time with the dog.

Good for you. So glad you got it in there before the warranty expired

They called back...

They've got another pump being overnighted from Ontario, with a guaranteed delivery of Thursday morning. There's also a chance the pump from California will arrive before then. Promised me that I'll have the LX back Thursday end of day, or Friday morning at the latest. Apparently after my earlier call with them the service manager drove down to Penticton (50mins away) to buy the last 3L of AHC fluid, as it's backordered everywhere. Interestingly Penticton doesn't have a Lexus dealership, only Toyota. Why would Toyota have this fluid on hand? No idea.

Back to the waiting game.

Believe some 06 and 07 LCs had AHC available as an option. Rooting for you.
Local Toyota has it for $5/L less in Seattle. It's just the wrong direction from my work so much less likely I'm in that area. Same part #. Yes, some 100s TLC had AHC.

So they called me ~three hours ago and said it's all fixed and ready to go. Dropped everything I was doing and hurried over to the dealership, excited like a child before Christmas.

I glance at the LX, it looks freshly cleaned, exchange keys, and open the rear driver's door.

This is what I see:

Looking around, I then see this:

And to add a cherry on top of this f.ucking disaster, the car went in with a spotless headliner, and this is what they had waiting for me:

Told these degenerates that I don't care whom they have to wake up or what they have to pay, this f.ucking car better be pristine, and in my driveway by 9am tomorrow.

This is what was done over the last 3.5 weeks, and what it cost this dealership. No, these costs are not my responsibility.

Holy crap. You have the patience of a saint. That headliner would have sent me over the top.

I was and am livid.

When they bring the car over tomorrow it's instantly going on ramps, and I'm going over every inch underneath before they get to leave or take the loaner back.

in case you are wondering, the headliner is not removed to get to AHC ecu. That part is $1000us on partsouq. i wonder how many hours book is for pump replace?

Wow, I am sorry you have to go through this and it is ongoing now for nearly 4 weeks. I can tell from experience Toyota and Lexus of Canada are the most incompetent and infuriating bunch to deal with. I always give multiple chances, but Toyota Canada is one that I never will give to again. All my parts come from USA or Partsouq at this point. Anything that has to do with 100 series or 200 series, Toyota Canada competency is less than dirt. Yeah, its a vehicle that has sold less than 800 for the LX470 and 1500 for the LX570, but its no excuse to have a dealer network that is this incompetent on a flagship Lexus.

Here is just a couple of things of why I think Toyota Canada has the worst dealer network out of all the countries in the entire world:
1.) Last summer 2019, Toyota and Lexus Canada had a nationwide parts shortage. Meaning there was a 6-8 week+ delay on parts if you and I went into the dealership, or if an independent garage/bodyshop needed an OEM part. Even the dealers had to wait 1+ weeks to get in parts for warranty, what did that mean? Consumers had to bear the long wait times of Toyota Canada's massive f*kup. Last summer, I couldn't get any parts from Toyota and there were times where my LX sat on jackstands for at least a week or two while I waited for parts from USA or Partsouq. It would've been 6-10 weeks if I relied on Toyota Canada to get them to me. I have no idea how incredibly messed up Toyota Canada's supply chain could get, even dealers having to wait 1-3 weeks on common parts? How does it even get to the point where bodyshops and garages can't get parts? Buddy of mine had a 4runner that was rear ended, it didn't get returned back to him for 11 weeks from the bodyshop due to Toyota Canada not being able to get parts out.

2.) Canada hasn't sold Land Cruisers for decades now except for the non-VIN mining HZJ79. What does that mean? 100 and 200 series parts availability? Simply fugetaboutit! 9 out of 10 times I need to get something immediately, I am ALWAYS met on the phone after giving the part number with "Our Canadian warehouse doesn't have it, its going to have to come out of California, its going to be 1-3 weeks" or "its backordered in our system, I don't know how long it will take". Its not just one dealership, but I get met with these responses with every Toyota dealership I've called which is at least half a dozen in Ontario. Seemingly simple and small things such as handbrake cranks, hand brake springs, diff seals, CV seals, circlips, all the way up to critical things like CVs, bushings, etc, Toyota Canada won't have the part in their warehouse. Simply put, there isn't any dealer support network in Canada for 100 and 200 LXs. I get all my parts from Partsouq these days.

3.) Lexus techs are something else. Not a place I will ever bring a car again. These techs mostly see Canadian built Lexuses such as the RX and ES that are commuter vehicles. There are very small numbers of flagship Lexs sold in Canada like the LX and LS, so techs are straight up unfamiliar with them, which is why your LX has all these issues after you brought it in for an AHC flush. The last time I brought my LX in for an alignment to a Lexus dealership was last year, not only did I have an additional 15km on my odo, but my undercarriage had mudsplashes and bits of grass stuck underneath the frame rail that definetly wasn't there before, they did give their free car wash though.

Quite upsetting that you and I share a common sentiment towards Toyota/Lexus of Canada.

That's absolutely horrible.

I'll never set foot in a Lexus dealership again.

Woof, dont let one bad apple spoil the bunch. My experience w lexus dealers has been terrific. Maybe you picked a bad one. Still digging that interior color combo.

Called corporate this morning and left a complaint.

Got the LX back by 9am. Clean as it should be. One little plastic cap is missing from the door trim - they couldn't find it, and will mail me a new one. Service Manager apologized profusely, agreed to pay for an independent inspection (already booked at a local indy) next week, and brought me a cheque for the full $1800 service amount I had paid. Good on them - owning up to mistakes made is not something I see often, and this did lower my boiling-in-rage-blood-pressure a little bit.

AHC went up/down fine in the one cycle I tried. Drove around the block, seems fine. Can't believe how much nicer this LX is than that 2020 NX300 they had given me. I feel like I went from walking barefoot to being shuffled around in a private jet liner... just that much difference between the two vehicles.
