Now I'm torn since driving it. I haven't been driving it since I've had a company vehicle and usually take my ISF out on the weekends. If $6500 comes along it can go but until then I suppose I'll keep it.

Thanks everyone.

Any Cottonland folks have contact info for Justin727? I'm trying to help a buddy who is looking and having no luck with PM.

Thanks!

This has @Fireman written all over it.

I'd drive it. Matches my toolbox

Just to continue a wonderful streak of luck ive been having.... I noticed my Brand new (to me) trans was leaking. Got under there and found it. Its cracked.... The real stinger is that I bought it from a member on mud, he bought it brand new and never installed it and shipped it to me. So it was new in box when I got it never had oil in it. BUT has no warranty. So im basically up the creek with no paddle. Im going to try and find someone to TIG weld the crack I suppose. To add insult to injury, I was trying to get to wheel the 4runner this weekend at hawk pride at some event. This would be the first time since I built it that it has been off road. And my first time wheelin since the cruiser crawl '16. Not with a Cracked trans im not. DAMN IT

^^^Wonder if you could JB Weld, wheel it and keep an eye on it.

It's leaking too fast to get JB weld in there. I used this metal sealing putty last night and it didn't work. Maybe I should have drained the oil before I did it. I'm just concerned with it cracking more if I wheel it

That's the worst...thinking your getting something new to find it damaged with no recourse. Sorry man.

Marlin is sending me a new case thats been bead blasted and Pickled? for $70 bucks. They normally dont sell these but since ive spent so much with them I guess they feel bad for me lol. Im kicking myself in the butt for not just ordering a new one from them. I only saved like 4 or 500 bucks by buying this one only to find out it is cracked!

I would drain all of the oil and clean it up real good then reapply.

BTW, I'm going to HP this weekend too. Hope to see you there. @dbbowen

If I can get some kind of temporary fix figured out ill be there, if not I might have to stay home. :////

That frigging rocks. Marlin for the win!

Any of you guys take apart a transmission before? Lol. Looks like I'm out for this weekend. I'd really like to get this thing off road at least once before crawl17 dang it!

That sucks, but awesome that Marlin is going to take care of you. If you are worried about the crack propagating but would like/ need to get it on the road. Crawl under there, drain the fluid out, clean the area really well, locate the end of the crack and use a greased drill bit to drill a small hole right at or just beyond the tail of the crack. The hole will provide a relief point and should keep the crack from continuing on. Then use some JB weld or other metal putty to seal the crack and new hole and fill it back up. Should hold fluid well enough to ride around town.

Since it is right at the mount, I probably wouldn't wheel it too much due to the torque being applied at that point.

This is my game plan then. When you say greased drill bit, do you mean literally a drill bit that has grease on it? Im hoping that the JB weld will hold until the new tail housing gets here and I can install it. I checked the gear oil level and its still completely full. Just draining a couple drops

Yeah, just find a small bit in your box and slick it up with grease. The grease helps hold the cuttings to keep them from getting into the case.

If you get it sealed up, then I would say just keep and eye on it and rock on until you can get the housing changed out.

I have a crack in the front of the aluminum case on the Ford, looks like it hit something. It is right about even with the full level on the case and is on the drop side going to the front axle. Not a high stress area and it has a JB plug on it currently that looks to have been done hastily. I plan to clean the old off, drain the fluid and do a full coverage repair, fill it up and rock on.

Nice man, Im currently asking the guy who sold it to me for a small partial refund to cover the costs of all of this crap.... its not going over well. The guy is a MUD member, thats how I found him. Hes out of Texas
