It looks like my e-Brake handle had been either picked at by the original owner, or was ruined by some sort of cleaner. I can't feel any way for the handle to come off the lever, does anyone know if it does ? That way I can likely just replace it with something off a Canadian vehicle laying around the junkyard. I have a feeling the handle and arm might be one piece, in which case I'd probably just leave/cover it.

Thanks !

I am pretty certain it's UV damage, both of mine are eroded.

group buy of brown/gray handles in order???

same here, i thought it was nervous picking...here in Alberta it is the Alberta wave (picking your nose at the stop lights) so i thought over there it was picking of the handle...
cheers

I bought a mid 90's 4Runner parking brake handle before I found one from an LX package J73 in pristine shape. The bolt pattern, etc. appears to be the same. The rubberized handle also feels much nicer compared to the stock plastic one but it comes in black instead of grey or brown.

other damage on:
4 buttons that fit in roll bar cover (look up next time you drive a 74)
the knob on the tool box access (but no so much on left side rear pass access panel)

let's put it another way, I have never seen a good 70 series parking brake handle even on cdn spec trucks (other than new in drive ens trucks).

comments?

hummm, most of the units i brought over had decent to excellent handles... the "parts" (which ended up not being parts rigs) rigs had badly messed up handles... i seriously thought it as nevous picking on the part of previous owners.

I've had five come in - all with the handle looking like a dog was chewing it. Could be a reaction from the polution or UV damage.
