What are these? (Not mine...)

H78-15 Dunlop Mud Terrain Tires

I have 1 perfect one of these... who wants it? Tire, wheel & hubcap off my 78.

Is this thread worth reviving? Should I just look into what i can get these made for? Did we have a count for how many are wanted?

I cut and pasted these from another thread; https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/459720-moment-truth-coming-near-paint-5.html#post6818972

Kind of off-subject/on-subject, but I remember that thread and I recall the $$$ amount it would cost to get the RK3 reproduced. One thought that came to mind was if these just came stock on cruisers or were there other makes & models that got these new from the factory? Maybe we could get more interest from another make/model fgroup forum... ie - more people with money involved to reach the $50k it would have required in orders to get the ball rolling again. Sorry to hi-jack and love your cruiser. It is looking awesome:cheers:

I can look into my supply lines to see if i can find a manufaturer that could get us a better price. .......yea...i guess we should talk about this some where else.

Here we go....

Mike, You did a fantastic job on the caps, and while you and I may have been on opposite sides of a discussion we had a while back, it happens, but that was then, and I carry no ill feelings at all (I've learned a very long time ago that life is too short :)), so if there is anything more I can do to help with these, or if you want to learn more on what I've done, just let me know

I have a sno-cruiser that still has the tits on it. I think its always been spare & never has been mounted on an axle. It has a little dry rot. It came off, IIR, a 1977 FJ40 rust bucket w/ 25,000 miles.

these tires would go perfect with beautiful new hub caps of yours :grinpimp:

I am pretty sure you could make a mold from my tire,it looks to have never been on the ground, let me know,I will be more than happy to loan it for mold making!!!

I'm good for an order of 5 @ reasonable prices...

Im pretty sure that at the small numbers we are looking at for a project like this...the price probably wouldnt be reasonable. :hhmm: I will look into it though.

Like I wrote earlier, they are still being made, so we could look at look a way to import them for "off road" or "farm" use, as I do not think they will be DOT.

That said, if you can find a maker that is willing to make some molds, like Universal or CokerTire, then they should get the same street approval that their other classic tires get

Good to know that they are still being made. What information do you have on this? who makes them and where?

I have already contacted both universal and coker along with many others...they won't mess with this. I have been discussing a run of 100 tires. Way too small for anyone to bother making a mould. Even if we paid for the mould...they still dont want to do it for such a small number.

I know. Coker told me that they would not do it unless they had an order for about $50 000, which translates to about 250 to 350 tires...which is why I started this thread.

The other option would be to import a bunch from Malaysia, probably under the "offroad" or "farm" tire title, as I do not know if they are dot.

I just put a call through to a big tire place here in Montreal, and they will look in to see if they can import from Malaysia...they are a big professional outfit, and I will keep you posted with any news.

In the mean time, I can not bank roll this, so if they can import them, how do you suggest, or what do you think would be the best way to proceed?

Send me PM if you want to discuss the rest in private

you're probably better off getting a container from asia. Problem is shipping is on volume and tires take up a s*** load of volume and there is a lot of wasted space
