The outside door handle broke on my fj60 and I can't open the door now..even from the inside..any ideas om how to open it so I can fix it..also do I just need to replace the handle or the whole mechanism..I know 1 of the pins on the inside has warn through before..it sucks climbing in through my passenger door everywere i go.

Remove screws from armrest, inside handle thingy, and C-pin from window crank. Pull back to separate door cladding from door, then up. Look and see...

You should at least be able to manually pull the latch from inside the door.

Did you unlock the door first?

I can't really tell from the schematic whether the linkage from the inside door handle goes straight to the latch or somehow connects to the outside door handle. Anyway, remove the door skin and figure it out.

My rig is in the same boat. Passenger front door handle mechanism broke on the outside and the door won't open from the inside. I got the door card off, and can see in there, but the mechanism doesn't want to move. Does it move towards the front of the truck or the back?

thanks

there is a spring that broke.....it's tiny but does an important job.....you'll probably find parts of it in the bottom of the door shell.

That is true, but at this point how do I open the dang door? That way I can get it fixed…!

Thanks!

Visit this website linked below and choose your vehicle then drill down through the parts drawings to find the door stuff.

Get the part number there, copy it, then enter it into a Toyota parts dealer website and see if it’s still available from Toyota.
Door hardware is pretty generic. Likely the same stuff was used on several different models.
