they will, but the 76 birf is longer and will hang out further than the later one. And the gap between the end of the flange and the snap ring may allow it to float in and out a bit.
 
So, 8mm bolt and washer trick to keep it from sliding inboard?

I'm pretty sure I'm running mini-birfs in there right now...

My tech chops are way down from where they used to be. I coulda answered my own question four years ago!
 
No, the birf is too long. the gap between the inside edge of the snap ring and the outside edge of the flange is the issue. a bolt and washer wouldnt help.

Shouldnt be an issue with the mini truck birfs though.

08/75-12/78 stock outer axle stubs are longer than 01/79 and later...
