Just wanted to share - if you're not opposed to modernizing the interior tech of your fzj80, I just put a Pioneer p8400bh double din in place of the old head unit. Bluetooth calls, music, and iPhone app/nav functionality without having to trim or adjust the dash framing whatsoever. Perfect fit. So if you were thinking about it, this turned out well.

This post is worthless with out pix.

Welcome to mud:flipoff2:

Nice looking radio. How do you like it so far? Where and how did you mount the bluetooth mic?
PICS!

Did you have to order a custom wire harness or did you have to fab one?

Agreed, Pics or it didn't happen.

I've actually been considering getting this very same radio for my LX450. How well does the app mode work?

Full capacitive scrolling in enhanced app mode right?

Pretty sure there is nothing classic about a plastic 80 dash-- unless you happen to feel that 90's Camry's are "classic"...

I think what he means is avoiding the starship enterprise CD/decks that are the norm now. Given the age of a lot of the guys on this board, many of us can't even see the small buttons on most of the audio systems out there not to mention they look out of place.

I was worried what I would replace mine with when the CD mechanics failed however this year I spent the $15 on a 1/8" phone plug to cassette cart converter. Now i can play my MP3 into the deck with decent quality. Since there's no machanics to fail anymore, the stock deck will likely serve me for as long as the truck will (15 more years?)

I am installling the Pioneer 3400BH in my truck next week. Should be the same I think (size), the 8400BH is just the top end model in the line. I got mine off Amazon about a month back for $280, pics to follow.

Looking to throw some cash towards audio this week. Please share a few photos for "research purposes."

Pics and updates? Looking for a new upgrade with bluetooth and handsfree for the phone. Would like to have nav also.

thx

I put in a 3200 pioneer dvd - since they were closing them out for 279 shipped- great unit- ipod hideaway - NO bluetooth- the one w/ bluetooth was 75 bucks more- you can add nav tuner/camera and other junk- killer sound-
they make great longlasting cheap stuff that does EVERYTHING- enen matces backlight and button colors to whatever your oem interior is..- However lack of a KNOB for volume is a drag...

Hi folks - sorry I'll add the pics, on the way.

Mic came out the driver pillar, so it's subtle and good pickup.

Here's the unit and mic. Haven't used the advanced apps yet as I need to pick up a bigger data cable. But the bluetooth music and calling have been great.

Rest of the OE "system" in place?

Replaced the speakers all around with 6" polks in front and 4" kickers in rear (before swapping the head unit). Going to add a hidden corner panel shallow sub in the back down the road...but for now, sounds good as all get out anyhow. The pioneer pushes much better power/sound through.

Did your 6" polks and 4' kickers fit within the stock speaker housings? I'm looking to upgrade/replace my factory speakers due to a blown driver side door speaker yet retain the stock look.
