Just curious myself (I have a '64, so not really relevant to me) but what is the difference between a '71 - '72 door and a '73 - '74 door?

When I talked to Dan, he wan't sure.

I looked at the weatherstripping on my 71 doors and it is different than the new stuff I ordered two months ago. The new stuff is one piece that starts at the bottom middle of the door and runs all the way around until it meets itself again. The old stuff has a break one either side where the door glass starts. I can't say for sure whether someone before me cut it to remove the door top or not. I will compare all three when I get the ones I ordered yesterday.

Thanks guys looks like I will probably just get the older year door OEM from C Dan and cut it to fit. I guess my year, 73, has slightly larger doors. Gonna wait to see how Bostons turn out. I really don't want to buy the whole kit from SOR....it's way too F***ing expensive.

SHould I go with OEM weatherstrip for pre 73 doors or post 73 to cut and modify for my 73 since those couple years aren't available any longer. Are they the same? I guess a little larger would be better than a little smaller but I have been told the 73 ish era door are slightly larger so I am assuming everything is going to be a smaller than needed. Thanks.

Factory Toyota from CDan. I just bought some, I think it was around $23 for each door.

I'm weatherstrip shopping too. Could you check your old invoice and verify the $23 price? Our local stealership wants almost $80 per door for OEM weatherstrip--for an '82. (No, I haven't called CDan yet.)

FWIW, I've seen the new "Best" weatherstrip from CCOT and it appears to be high quality and thicker than OEM. About $90 for both doors. I'm waiting for a sale. :D

That price was NOT for the later models.

FYI SOR has them in stock, but I ordered their new "KIT" with the repop one's

I bought some that were aftermarket. tried to use them and got pissed put them in the burn barrell. ordered a set from man a fre. good fit seal well the window felts worked well. every bag i got had toyota part #'s the only problem i had is at the striker plate but i made it work.

My doors came in a pile from the PO. Not sure what year they are, the rig is a 10/72, the doors are the early style with wing windows. How do I tell what year the doors are??

If I have the orphan 73/74 doors, does anyone have experience using the early door weatherstrip and other seals on the 73/74 doors?

If they fit your truck properly they are probably the correct doors, 73's have slightly larger doors so I would think the wrong year wouldn't work. Bad news is that Toyota doesn't make OEM weatherstrip for that year anymore. See info about this above in terms of what the best replacement would be. I'm in the same situation and not sure what to eventually get. I currently have aftermarket stript on there and it isn't wide or cushy enough so the door rattle pretty good. I put some felt shims on the door striker and this works pretty good.

If you are re-fabbing the door I would think the SOR door weatherstrip package would be a good choice it's just too expensive for me because I have everything else already.

Bought the pre-73 OEM weather strip from Cruiser Dan for my 73 and it fits awesome. Only had to trim 1" off the bottom where the two sections meet. Get a big pack of wooden clothes pins to do the install and they hold the strip on there perfect while the adhesive is drying.

Just pissed I waited so long to do this. NO MORE RATTLES!

My local Toyota dealer told my is 77$ each (CDN$).

Since I have to buy the weatherstrip for the rear ambulance doors, I finaly order the part (4 WS and a door loock) in Australia (http://www.4x4world.com.au/)for 234$ (AUS$) with the shipping... It almost 200$ for me and much less for your in USA.

I receive the part today and the quality look very nice.

$30 each from C Dan at Toyota America for and OEM part. You should have bought them and then had a friend ship them to you from the US. Hell, I would have done it for you. $200 is crazy for some weather strip but it is almost worth it when all the rattles are gone.

And don't forget to get a 48 pack of wooden clothes pins...it will make the install go twice as quick and clean.
