Did you take the plunge and pick them up?

@camino70 No, I didn't order the complete actuators, I don't think they will fit, and you are probably right that exchanging motors is the best solution.

However, because my locks only malfunction on really hot days (for the last three years), and work fine after the AC has run a few minutes, and because I'm lazy and cheap, I pulled the door panel on one rear door and lubricated the latch and lock cable really well. I used a cable lube for motorcycle cables, with a needle applicator. I've had one hot day and the lubed lock unlocked fine, but the other didn't.

I realize this is only a temporary fix, but it only took 15 minutes, and maybe prolonged the life of my lock motors?

I'll provide more info later, but I do think lubricating that cable is a good idea.

This is what I used. Goes in wet but says it's a dry lube. I took off the interior door latch assembly (1 screw once panel is off) held it up, and let this lube flow down the cable.

I'm sure this is only a temporary fix... but only took 15 min.

Does anybody have a current link for motors that will work in a 98 LX470?

My suggestion as others have stated is to buy both kinds so you don't have to take apart and put back together unnecessarily. That is if you drive your truck often.

I don’t mind buying both. What am I searching for to buy? Model number or name?

I'm happy to report that I ordered this part from Amazon (but there are several other sites that carry it as well) and it worked! After removing each of the screws, I was able to separate the clamshell. I then used needle nosed pliers to pinch the tabs from the grey lever and replaced it with the white one from my 2000 LC. I put it back together, installed it and it worked perfectly. I had found the same parts (for Left and Right sides on PartsTrain.com (Parts T464912 and T464911) and order the remaining three. They had the lowest prices, $23.11 and $16.73 each. So fro about $75 you can replace all 4 actuators. You could also swap the motors only for about $25 but I didn't want to deal with gluing the clamshells, etc. since this was pretty easy and felt confident that the clamshells wouldn't pop open over time. Thanks for all the information!

Well, both the drivers side door locks are not functioning properly all the time. And of course its summer. I have read through most all of posts on this topic to try and figure out which parts I need and I think instead of ordered both sets of motors and sitting on a set that wont work (D or Brass) I will order the Camry Actuator to save some time. Just want to make sure that the Part number above, Parts T464912 and T464911 will work on a 2000 LX470. I understand that I will have to change out the lever. Most all the posts in here have been on LandCruisers. I know that most all of the parts are the same, ie... TOYOTA, but Lexus does some weird part changes sometimes.

Thank in advance for the help

I am courious too. My LX has door lock issues. Poor me, its 108 degrees in Tucson this week! Thank God the keys works to turn it open.

Enrique, Is your LX a 2000 as well?
I have a late 2003 model. It is a real PITA with the electric locks. Mainly my passenger front door has the most issues.
What happens is:
Click once to lock: on a good day all work; however, commonly the driver doors locks, the front passenger barely locks and rear passenger doors lock, but sometimes the drivers side rear door doesn't lock and finally the rear hatch mostly but at times will not lock.

Now... click a second time and it is if the electrical charge gets weaker with every attempt to lock/unlock.

I've read everything from a bad EFC computer ($1400) to changing a $5 motor. I mean, really... someone most have a better solution?

I hope we can figure this out

I have a 2003 LC and had same intermittent lock issue. I have a 2002 IS 300 that had same issue. Locks start being intermittent then finally stop working. I replaced the lock motors and problem went away. You can replace the motors ($5 ea.) or the whole lock mechanism ($140 ea.) and it should fix your problem. I doubt it’s the ECU.

Thanks for the advice, sure beats the expensive alternative. Once I fix this issue, I pretty much have a great running truck!

So I need some help. I forgot where the silver rod links to. I have tried putting it into the little hole where the actuator latch (white piece that flicks up and down with the coiled spring thing) but it keeps coming out. Where does that silver wire go?

#Deadmilenko Did The camry actuator with swapped lever work? I replaced my driver side door about 4 years ago with one of the cheap Chinese motors everyone posts about. It worked for 4 years, but then stopped working again. Since I superglued the clamshell back together, I can't get it apart to replace the motor a second time. I have the white lever out, and am hoping the cheap Camry actuator will work!

any update on these?
Nah sorry been really busy with everything else and havent even been on the thread at all. Plan on putting them in hopefully this weekend. Will update then
