Hi All- I have read every actuator post and watched every You Tube video on replacing the door lock actuator. I have opened it up and cannot for the life of me figure out how to disconnect the two lock cables in the photo below. Mine appear to be different than what is in the videos and forums. Can someone help me PLEASE ?

Just did this last weekend. Clip rotates away from the handle and up (green) and then pushes back out (yellow). I found it was easier to remove the 10mm bolts and pull the handle out than hammer it back with a block. Don’t forget to replace when you are done…

Hold the metal rod with your right hand. Grab the yellow piece with your left hand and put your index finger on the bottom left of the clip. feel for the gap in the clip and lift gently while rotating counter clockwise. Once the yellow clip has rotated 90 degrees, you can pull the metal rod straight out.

Thanks, will try that. How do I get the other clear one out ( the right red circle in my first photo )

I have tried for 2 hours with no success. I cannot get the yellow clip off the rod and am afraid if I pull on the clear fitting for the other one, it will break. Any suggestions ? ?

Correct. They are not different, you are just not understanding how they work. Unbolt the door handles to give yourself more room on the other side, and you will be able to have a lot more access to undo them. It is two 10mm bolts.

1. Rotate the clip (counter-clockwise, when looking down on it).
2. Pull rod away while leaving plastic clip. There will be some resistance to overcome, like a ball and socket). Rod and plastic cannot be removed together.

Needle nose plier could be helpful.

I'm currently in the middle of a similar repair. I'm aware of how the clips move, but have encountered some resistance in getting the rod out of the plastic housing. I didn't have any angle pliers handy, so I had to pause -- and have since found some, and will be reattempting to de-clip the rod. Will probably put one side on the extended metal nub, and the other side of the grip on black plastic housing. As backup, I did purchase another clip that I THINK matches -- but it was hard to identify. I also partially broke the annoying white plastic covering that goes over the 2 guide wires (maybe 2"x5") -- but it works enough to accomplish its intended goal (I think). I looked and looked, and could not find that part listed anywhere. Will see how my pliers extraction goes.

I am replacing the actuator on the driver door (LH drive) as part of a parasitic drain hunt. Door has been intermittent over the year, and when I pull the BAT fuse and Central Locks fuse (either results in same amp reduction) -- my draw goes from 160 to 30 -- so we'll see if the actuator is the reason. If not, maybe relay? Haven't gotten that far.
