250 mile trip

We have a mostly stock LC but have 32.5" tires so speedo is off. But whenever my wife drives she usually gets 16+ mpg. I have a hard time tickling 15 mpg.

I've been getting 18.1 on a 150 mile round trip to and from our ski area. Of course, much of it is on 2 lane roads at under 60 mph. Nonetheless it gives me great joy to see that number on the screen!

I got my 98 up to 12.8 mph on 33's (unadjusted). Probably close to 14mpg going 70-85mph. I'm pretty happy with 14 cruising quick.

I have a 2004 LX470, and after dropping daughter off to college after winter break and topping off the tank at $1.36/gallon 87 octane, my trip back was 20 miles back country roads and then 25 miles highway. I was getting 19.7. I should have taken a picture because it seemed unreal. When my 16-year-old son drives it, he gets around 11.5, and when I get hold of it, I try to get it back to a respectable upper 15's. It is 100% stock original with 225,000miles. I just bought it with 222,000miles right after Christmas.

So after all these years from the original LandCruiser, these beasts still get terrible gas mileage. I think my FJ40 gets 12mpg downhill with a tail-wind.

But I am jealous of the 86 degrees MAX Cold in February.

Averaging 70 mph in a 5,600 lb. 3-row, V8 SUV… and getting over 16 MPG? Are your bragging or complaining?

it is stock with 20'' rims

little bragging :) but i knew ppl are getting better MPG. that was after i cleaned up the MAF and recharged air filter i notice the little difference but i also have an observation will talk about it below. Even though MPG is not an issue here (Saudi Arabia) since i can fill her up with 20 bucks, makes me feel good that she is running good.

i have seen it getting 18 even 20 but with not that speed and just for short period of time. in fact, it has dropped to 15.5 after 100 miles

my observation:

when you fill up gas, and you drive off in highway below 60-65 it will reach even 20 mpg but it drops in 10-15 mins but when drive steady (60) it will last longer.

been driving for a year now every week 260 miles one way with different mpg (13.4 to 16) and for some reason, i reach my point with same remaining " cruise range" around 80 miles left in the tank.

i think the mpg calculation in the screen its not accurate, in fact it little bit off.
if you have obdII and see the mpg while driving, it will give you different numbers. i am saying don't count on that :)

Max i got out of one full tank is 335-340 Miles (not running on fumes but with simple calculation)

But I am jealous of the 86 degrees MAX Cold in February.

well i want you to imagine the weather on July/August if this is in February. i did see it last year here reaches 130F

thats why i will be replacing fuel filter, thermo, Tees and hoses to avoid the overheat.

extra: in one year, i have driven 40K miles :crybaby: but has been great truck with Extra maintenance.

Yes.

This was from K-falls to Portland. I-97/Hwy 58/I-5. Average speed was artificially low because I got stuck in a long drive-through line at Eugene McDonald's trying to get fast coffee, mid 60s on 97/58 and 70 on I-5.

Trip from KRNO to KLMT was (IIRC) 20.2, somehow I can't find that picture. Should have framed it. Came up 395.

Are y'all driving downhill, with a tail wind, with the cruise control set @55MPH or what?

I'm usually excited when I hit 15MPG.

Every time I fill up and do a hand calculation it seems the trip info numbers are overestimated by 2-3 mpg. I try to use the same pump at same station and stop at the first click...My average numbers:
- 100% HWY at 60-65MPH, flat terrain: 16MPG
- 100% WHY at 70-75MPH, flat terrain: 14MPG
- 100% city, stop and go traffic and short school runs: 11.5MPG...luck if I get 12.

That's on 05LX stock with 65K miles and I am very light footed....don't want to know what would happen if I try and keep up with traffic....

Where tha heck do you find gas at $1.36? I've just paid 2,17 with a big smile in my face! Guess I'm still being robbed no matter what!

Best I've ever seen, cruising some back roads in central TN:

In January, it was $1.36 at the UDF in Oxford, OH Miami University. Heck, yesterday, Costco was $1.44 for regular, but I don't get gas there because of the 10% ethanol. PO said she only used Shell VPower premium. I switched to regular when I bought it after Christmas since manual states 87 minimum. Next fillup when it goes below 1/4 tank, I am going to put premium in to see if there is a mpg bump.

Just out of curiosity, but do we actually trust the trip computer as being 100% accurate? My 2002 doesn't have one so I calculate MPG by the number of miles driven (after a fillup) divided by the number of gallons pumped to bring the tank back to full. I think that's the ONLY true way to gauge MPG for the average Joe.
