I don't have much seat time on these, but they have been great so far. I love the adjustability. I've got the 6'' shocks with the 2.5VT springs. As you can see it flexes great.

The issue it that on this first flex it bent the canister bracket up. I positioned the canister centered, based off other photos I had seen, but that doesn't seem to work for me. Has anyone else had this issue? What position clears for you?

The other issue is the 2 piece bushing on the rear shock. They bulge out on the mount. Has anyone had this issue? What did you do? One piece bushing?

The bushings don't look right. They shouldn't be able to protrude from the shock mount like that. I'd recommend you pull them off and make sure they're in there right with washers front and back so they stay tight.

Also with those really long shocks, your axle rotates a lot at full droop, stressing that lower stock mount. You will need to roll the axle some and correct the pinion angle so that it doesn't stress it out. Adjustable lower and upper rear arms will fix that.

Did something contact the resi bracket? I can't tell how that would move.

It looks that you did not use the washers provided with the shock, please see the attached picture on how to install the lower shock washers and bushings:

Also looking at your picture of the front reservoir bracket looks like you have inverted them form side. I believe they are side specific.

In this picture you can see that the brackets do not protrude outwards like yours

I’ve already pulled it back apart and tried tightening them on the ground and the lift. It doesn’t make much difference. It seems like they are just being over tightened and are moving around since it’s not a one piece bushing.

I can see how rolling the pinion up would definitely help. I will say I ran fox shocks before that were almost the exact length and the one piece bushing had no issues. They do run a smaller eyelet though.

I’m not sure what made contact. The tire had to of contacted it somewhere. I don’t see any marks on it indicated the contact point. I drove pretty straight into the ditch, only turning slightly as you can see in the pics.

Yes, I left the factory washer. I don’t see how that makes any difference?
The factory washer appeared to be of better quality.

Thanks for the instructions. It sure would be nice if they actually came with the shocks.

The reservoir brackets are on the correct sides. It’s all bent in the pic so it may be hard to tell.

I used the pic from this thread to orient them, but I’ll give your placement a shot.

Do you have the front bump stopped or stock? Are you running the front sway? If so you might want to pull it or be aware that when the front sway bar rips from the axle it will take out the pass brake hard line. Can you mount the resi to the shock body?

That rear oem bolt and washer doesn’t look like an oem 80 series part. Looks like the washer is reversed which you can’t do since it’s pressed into the bolt. See attached pics how an oem washer sits on the bolt, in the picture you posted the washer is flipped from what I can see. The OPs bolt and washer looks exactly like mine which is why his Dobinsons bushing is being squished. Same thing is happening to me. @crikeymike have you ran into this issue?

I have the Same MRA's and it looks like you didn't use the included hardware in the rear. My fronts are similarly mounted except I mounted them higher which by default pushes them further in.

Here is the pic illustrating mounting it higher up. There are M8x1.25 threaded holes in the top of the coil bucket. I moved mine up there to keep them more out of the way and it was less fussy mounting.

Only if a washer isn't used on the back and front of the bushing stack. If a washer is curved in too far, it's trashed, probably from a super worn out shock. Your 2nd last photo looks like it has thread damage (the shiny part), so something was bouncing around too much it looks like.

The thread damage was me trying to tap the nut off the bolt until I came to my senses and stopped before damaging the whole bolt haha.

@crikeymike

I was able to find a picture of a new rear lower shock bolt. Please have a look at this link.

The shape of the washer appears to be the same as the one on my car? If I’m seeing things right. It’s also curved in but in the opposite direction then the photo used on the Dobinsons instructions someone posted earlier on this thread.

You’re using a new oem Toyota shock bolt/nut or something that came with your Dobinsons kit? My kit only had bushings and variety of washers. No bolts

I recently put these on my 450, I’ll have to look at the rears, but in that pic of the front resi, did you modify the bracket per the instructions and reposition the mounting hole? I’m pretty sure they are supposed to go on the top of the coil tower, least that is what I’ve done.

Looking at these pics reminds me I have to cut and fit the new inner skirt liners.

I'm Pretty sure I used new Toyota bolts due to not having the originals. I used the included washers from Dobinsons however. With shock bushings you install the washers on either side and tighten until the bushing is just matched up with the outer edge of the provided washer or just slightly past the edge. anything else is over tightening.

Same set up as me.
For the front resi bracket, I used the Slee bracket. More stout and tucked up.

For the rear bushings, I feel they are too soft compared to other brands as well as oem. I think I have them installed right but just planned on replacing them sooner than later.

That’s exactly how I installed mine. I ordered new oem shock bolts to see if it makes any difference.

I ordered new bolts too. They are the same so I chucked the old ones in with the trail spares.
