Do you daily your “built” 100?

Nice! I was just thinking the other day how much I miss my 93 Civic Si and would love for that to be my daily driver, although I would worry about getting into an accident (myself and the skyrocketing value of those cars).

My 93 Civic SI I have owned since 2004. Its a riot to drive but no way I would daily it LOL Its a death trap and so loud inside now that im old. I have a 3 year old and he has never ridden in it and probably never will. Car has a Turbo LS motor/GSR trans and makes just over 300whp

*Sorry off topic*

Do those same people think that all the energy and raw materials it took to make that additional vehicle that will eventually get dumped in a scrap yard aren't counted in the energy balance?

Hopefully they aren't buying a new car for that because that's super wasteful. Some people, like me, had a fuel-efficient car before they bought the cruiser, so I might as well keep driving that.

I just feel happy in the 100. I've put almost 35k miles on it the last two years.

Look at the bright side, they get better mileage than this family sedan.

And that fuel is mostly recycled dinosaurs, so that makes it green, right?
It’s definitely green.

Funny note, I work as a researcher for deep water drilling technologies. Every new chemical we are creating, is pushing towards environmentally friendly and green. Lessening the impact of drilling on our planet.

But that doesn’t stop unregulated dumping of fuel and trash into the ocean by cargo vessels. It doesn’t stop the massive amounts of plastic consumption coming from made in china products that people love to order on Amazon. Doesn’t stop the massive food waste problem, or the massive amounts of land dedicated to livestock that could be better suited for crops.

I always applaud people trying to do their part, but the reality is doing your part means oess consumption and convenience. The difference in fuel burned and the associated costs with that, is rubles compared to the massive amount of waste and resources big companies and countries use, to make the average persons life a little more, uh, convenient? More lazy?

Want to make a difference? Do it by supporting your community, supporting locally produced goods and food, quit buying bell peppers in a big plastic bag from Costco, and learn to grow your own. Or buy from someone who does.

I’ll keep DD’ing the LX.

I do my part to keep the energy footprint low in Japan. I recycle 1999 model vehicles from Japan and give them a 2nd life.

I daily my 100 @ 15-20k miles per year, unless I want to drive a 5 speed...then I drive one of the J**ps :steer: Actually, I've been driving my rusty '86 Jeep Comanche for the last few weeks since there has been salt on the road.

When fuel prices go up to $4/gallon (for me), my annual fuel cost will be what I paid for the Cruiser years ago. My 100 is far from "built" but it does have a bumper, bigger tires and a little lift but it is a great driver.

Your own personal “Cash for Clunkers” program?

Our own Greta Thunberg, but actively doing something to “fix” the problem…

That’s pretty inspirational, maybe I should follow your lead 🤔

I think you have a head start. :-)

You have the 100 sitting on 295s right? I was scoping it out to decide whether to throw them on mine or not. Yours convinced me.
Yes sir. The one on the far right in that pic.

Daily my 100 15 miles a day.... 33s Bumper Rack lift, love it.

Who here daily drives their 100 that’s modified?

I drive mine 500+ miles a week on average. Really should be driving something really economical.

2000 with 195k now. 33s, all the mods but lockers. Fridge/ drawers, roof tent/ awning, etc etc.

12mpg average

You're driving 26,000+ miles/year on your 100 series? Obviously that's a recent thing for you based on the mileage, but clearly that makes no sense long term. Buy yourself a used 4 cylinder Camry or Accord for your job. Yes I daily my 100, but I live close enough to my job that I need to take the long way there on cold days to let the engine reach operating temp
