Recently purchased an 07 and am doing some baselining on it but am leaving for a trip this weekend and the heater t stories have me a little nervous.

The truck has 125k on it and at 100k the PO did the timing belt service as well as a bunch of other things (radiator hoses, thermostat, water pump, VCG and some more) but I do not see a mention of heater t’s on this receipt…

I called my local dealership and they don’t have any in stock and I’m leaving tomorrow. Just wanted to get your guys thoughts if these look safe to you? And also if maybe that timing belt service did replace the t’s?

They look safe, do not touch them. When you get back, order the parts and just replace them for piece of mind.

If you didn't swap them last, then time to baseline them and be safe. It's like $25 maybe some coolant.

^^^^

Luckily no leaks visible and they don't look to dried out but if you mess with them the inlet side could break apart.

Put your VIN into Toyota Owners and see if you can find more service records.

Don't let Heater T paranoia slow you down. Check your coolant level in radiator and reservoir when cold ( after 8 hours + sitting )

Just keep an eye on it. Will you be going off grid, far away from any mechanic / tow truck solution just in case?

They look nice and black with no leaking around them. You should be fine.

Might just be another case of HTP, or heater T paranoia.

Goes hand and hand with general EOCP, or earlier onset cruiser paranoia

I would say that the “earlier onset cruiser paranoia” is pretty accurate haha. Since I’ve bought it I find myself going out multiple times a day just to “check on something”

Haha right, I go through ups and downs. Some people are, fix it before it breaks type of mentality. Other are ride it till it breaks then fix it

Just gotta find the balance of the two, nothing wrong with keeping your eyes on things to make sure everything is good to go.

Take a few doses of off roading mixed with some camping and the paranoia will settle down .
