I am wanting to fit early rear barn doors to my 83 BJ42 so I can add softtop, do they fit in the opening? any problems that may arise in doing so?

barn doors have 2 hinges each so you will have to drill holes for them .there is also a rescess in the newer bodies but the doors fit flush on the outside of it.its a little work but is doable .good luck

unless you're looking for perfection, you'll love having them on their. i ran them on my 78 in the summer...looked much better than the crappy sheetmetal "tailgates".

ambulance door opening is a little wider than the barn doors. I welded up the original hinge holes and drilled new ones, evenly spacing them out.

My 1982 BJ44 has split 1/2s but this was factory added since it ws a soft top model from what I can tell it should not be a problem except the lower hole for the hinge will have to be drilled.

stupid ambi doors...

appreciate it, I will bite the bullet and get some, I need to have something that opens like they do for I have the LX BJ42 so it has the forard facing rear seats and the single rear seat on my drivers side (mine is RHD) folds up against the wall so if I had barn doors then could open just that one door get in and latch and get in seat?

Thanks again
Rob
