Did you use the fine rubber additive? Was yours the polyurethane product? I assume you ordered the clear and added dye.

be carefuly assuming...

i called them and they told me to goto a Sherwin Williams and find a color i liked and let them know the number.

I did (SW7020) and they mixed the gallon part for me.

(i bought 2 gallons).
I received (2) 1 gallons of tined mixture (part A) and (2) 1 qt cans of Activator (part B), (2) 1 qt cans of reducer, and (2) bags of fine rubber power.

Instructions said to put all 4 items in a 3 gallon container and mix it like crazy. I used a drill with stirring attachment.

when that was done i used the gun and poured about 1 to 2 quarts in the hopper and started spraying.

The prep was the hard part. The spraying only took 15 or 20 min.

I had at least 1 qt or more left in the bucket. (note: acetone will not clean this crap up off the gun very well. it took MEK and some elbow grease.)

So, yes, i used the rubber additive, no it was not clear. They set my color for me. As for poly, yada yada, i dont know. I told him what i was doing and what color, and he sent me what he recomended. (i like it better this way - i didnt have to think about it.)

I love it.

I will be doing my front bumper, side mirrors, and the rear wind deflector soon.

That looks amazing! Did you do any light sanding of the aluminum tape, or did the liner coat everything completely?

Thanks for the pics...great job!!!

interesting question.

and i have a bad answer.

i forgot to sand the tape.

i hope that the 30mil epoxy will hold itslef together over that tape...

we shall see.

I have a twin now, just with a "L" badge on the front.
I can't believe you took the time to round off all the corners of the tape
And you do realize that you lined your rear cross member right? Or are the Lexus' different and have a cover?

You will want to go back and do the door jambs. You need to get some product to wrap onto the door sill or you will have a problem with it peeling. Trust me I know.

Niiiiice. I like the wrap-the-whole-car-in-paper approach. Settled a lot of questions for me. Thanks for sharing!

You only need to wrap the vehicle in paper if you are spraying the liner. For those rolling it on, it's not necessary at all.

If you wanted to re-install lined flares on a lined rig, would there be any consequences? Does the flare gasket have adhesive on both sides, or just on the side that contacts the flare? Is the liner thickness thick enough to offset the mounting hardware? It doesn't seem like it should be an issue, but maybe someone has experience and has an iota of advice before the spray gun comes out :)
