Ok, so I finally got around this weekend to covering up the baby poop bedliner color on The White Trash Lexus, and doing the passenger side. Used a whole gallon of durabak, and will probably come back with an extra quart I had on the dr. side, that baby poop color is hard to cover. Anyway, thought I'd share these pictures of after the flare removal - it's pretty obvious that these things are just mud collectors!

Too help with the lower sections, I suggest employing a midget....

I'll get some full truck shots later today and post up - the Dark Grey actually turned out darker than it looked on the web site, which is a good thing, I wanted it more charcoal

That second pic with your 'helper' is priceless! Great shot!!!

completed pictures - really want 1 more coat to even out the color. That baby poop color was just really hard to cover, and for some reason this Durabak seemed more difficult to work with, though I couldn't put a finger on why. It didn't seem as uniform I guess, though it was thougholy mixed. Since I've done a 40 twice with blue, one side of this with baby poop, and both with grey, plus the inside of a 40, I think I'm starting to become an expert ;)

Thanks. He's really great. While I was covering all the flare holes with metal tape, he took some and was putting it on the door too. Only thing I've had to correct him on is he's not allowed to hit the motorcycle with a hammer anymore - bad for the paint. I'll tell ya', I have friends who get jealous when I show pictures like this cause their 7-10 year old would rather play x-box than help dad with the truck. I figure start him early. He has his own Craftsman workbench that he hammers on in the garage. Course, after that photo was taken, he found some that was still wet and now has some nice grey spots in his hair. Luckily mom is a sport and just thinks it's funny as long as he doesn't get hurt. I love haven' my boy out there with me, though it did take me a while to find the bolts for the bumper again - any bolt he finds, he sticks into any hole he can find, frame holes, exhaust pipe, wherever. Wish I had snapped some shots of him helping me repack my wheel bearings! Grease from head to toe!!!

what product did you use? how much did you use? what did it cost you? and where can i get some!!

Looks great!!

thanks,

It's Durabak. I used a full gallon. It would have covered better if I didn't already have baby poop colored duraback on the dr. side. It comes in a bunch of different colors.

or if you want quarts, www.newlinesafety.com One thing with new line, if you get Sand, make sure you call and confirm what sand color is. They messed up mine between new tan, old tan, sand, beige, and buterscotch - which is why I had to cover up the baby poop - was suposed to be sand, but they sent tan, which ened up lookiung butterscotch...

Make sure yuo get the UV stuff, make sure you wear gloves, and make sure you have Zylene for clean-up. Otherwise it's straight forward. I've sprayed, brushed and rolled different times, different things, rolling is by far the easiest.

Much better, taking off the flares is almost enough to lose the :princess: designation :D

I actualy LIKE that designation. It makes it so much more enjoyable when people say "You're not going to do that in a LEXUS are you?"

You can actually order a quart of Durabak just put in your comments that you would like a quart instead of a gallon and they will adjust your price. I just heard back from them last week on that.

I agree :D. Looks a lot more "built" now with the plastic gone and the new bumpers - have you had a chance to wheel with the F.O.R. tube bumper yet?

It's funny, the grey looks darker on yours, it looks VERY light on my green truck. Must be the contrast in color. I've thought about redoing mine with black or a mix of grey and black.

It's darker than I thought it would too based on the online color chart and other posts of 80's with dark grey on different base colors. I'm happy about the darker finish though.

This Saturday is GCC's picnic, and I should be able to give it more of a workout then, and plan to put up some good photos of it in action then.

That green hair skull is bad to the bone! (pun intended)

Nice work.
