Have others with a dissent resr bumper noticed any contact with the lower tailgate?

I saw a line in the road dust, so I cleaned it up and put a strip of blue painters tape to see if I could replicate it.

I've been in and out a lot, installing a fridge slide, so probably more use than would be typical in a 24 hour period.

I couldn't think of what to do, so I made a temporary rub strip out of some vinyl scrap bits that I had handy.

If others have experienced this, what did you do?

Thank you for pointing that out. I just installed my bumper this past weekend and I went out to check. I see slight touching and a ghost of a mark so far. I’m going to get some clear protectant put on that spot asap to see if that prevents any damage.

I too HAD contact but from the camera relocation bracket -- I shaved my camera down and got rid of the contact with two adults sitting on the tailgate.

I am surprised you have contact without the camera relocation bracket

Watching as I just picked up my rear bumper Friday from Ben. I did not want to rush to get it installed before the Colorado trip.

Neither have I, and now I'm a little concerned about doing it...
Thanks Charlie for pointing this out. I knew to watch the camera housing and it is the limiting factor with regard to the down angle you can achieve with the camera but I had not noticed the rub on the bumper itself.

At this point I think I’m going to try and grind the bumper edge down. It would be a lot easier with the bumper not installed but I don’t think I want to go to that much effort. The good news is that it is aluminum and should be easy enough to grind with a die grinder if I am patient and slow. I am naturally slow but I sometimes struggle with patience…

Makes me wonder if I missed some spacer washers.

Sounds like it is happening to many of us. I wonder if they monitor this forum?

I have a good 1/4” to 1/2” space between the tail gate and bumper/camera. Dissent did my bumper install.

Hey guys!
Thanks for bringing to our attention.
we have not really run into this before. I did check on mine today and it has pretty good clearance.
We are aware of the week tailgate straps on the 200 that allow it to sag over time when there is a good bit of weight on the tailgate often. I believe this has been brought up on this forum before with other bumpers but I thought we had enough clearance to accommodate this.
The camera brackets can contact with 200+ lbs on the tailgate. , we supply a dissent license plate replacement to protect the tailgate.
These few on the thread now are the first we are hearing about this so we are looking into possibly making some slight changes to the back flange.
I do however think these are fairly isolated instance's as this has not been brought to our attention before nor have we had any issues with the many installations we have preformed here.
Nevertheless we do need to make sure we accommodate even if it’s 1 out of 100.
On that note, we do ask that anytime any of our customers have any issues no matter how small you feel it is please bring it to our attention so we can address!
If we don’t know we cannot fix it.
For the ones running into the contact please send an email to sales@dissentoffroad.com so we can dig into why you are seeing the contact and come up with a solution.
Thanks!

Mine makes contact on the camera relocation housing. I can see marks on the license plate delete. I’m still in the live with it stage lol.
This is normal. The tailgate straps are extremely week on the 200 due to the placement, with a couple adults on the tailgate it can hit the dissent license plate. This is why we supply that plate, to protect the tailgate.

I just checked mine, and no signs of rubbing.

This could be a frame to body tolerance issue. Or a simple positioning issue.

Those with rub, is the bumper pulled all they way back? You can see if there is a gap at the hitch point:

Bingo. Mine is about 1/4" off the receiver. The thing is that I originally had it further back but when I went to put the bolts on the back of the wings in, it was not tight against the brackets their, so I pulled the whole thing back ~1/4". See Dissent Front/Rear Bumper install instructions (LX) - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/dissent-front-rear-bumper-install-instructions-lx.1213883/post-14317074.

I don't see how I can move the whole thing back to avoid the rub and still be tight against the bracket at the back of the wings. :hmm:

The wing bracket is adjustable. You’ll need to loosen the 1/2” long bolt that goes through the frame:

Take a look at post 33 and 34:

Yup, I have a gap there too, but slso don't see how I could close that gap and still keep things aligned.

The entire thing can shift forward. Can I see a side shot of where your wings meet the wheel wells?
Here’s mine:
