Yes, based on the previous one with a few changes to make it more production friendly. The synthetic winch line can operate at extreme angles without issue. I have only winched a hand full of times with my bumper but there has never been a problem. There are a few other bumper designs that the fairlead mounts at an angle. So the answer is yes, I'm happy with it.Looking good Ben. Am I correct to say you are building this bumper based on your previous one? The second question is: have you winched up enough with the other one to be happy with the angle of the line? It looks pretty steep and I was thinking if it would be too much on the line if you are pulling forward and up!
Not trying to cause anymore trouble!
Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with the mounting. A lot of bumpers follow the angle where the fairlead is bolted on, all the way down like that. The end result is a very bulky looking bumper. That is why on mine, I do the separate dimple plate with the exposed gussets. It breaks up and shrinks the bumper tremendously.Good deal then! I've seen others with the sort of steep angle and thought of this but never really asked anybody if it was an issue or not.
Thanks
(BTW, that bumper in the pic looks good but the way they mounted the thing on that 4Runner looks like crap)
Thanks,Looking great. Glad your back was a minor tweak. Back pain isn't fun.
I think this was brought up before, but are those loops stout enough for hard pulls on a D-ring? Maybe just the pic, but there doesn't appear to be much meat there.
So I have decided to get a new tube bender. The new bender can bend tighter radius so it will give more options. I also plan on making the grill guard bolt on. This will make it easy to add one in the future if wanted. The biggest reason for this decision is when I changed my starter recently it would have been much easier without the grill guard!
Haha, no. The grill guard itself will all be welded. It will bolt to the top of the bumper with flat plates.Curious to see what a bolt on grill/headlight guard would look like. I personally don't like the looks of how those ARB/TJM side tubes attach/integrate to the bumpers/sliders! And hope it wouldn't turn that way!
It looks like something from trucks-R-us kind of place! Don't get me wrong, I know they serve a purpose and lots love them! I just think it's ugly.

If your concerned about it being to close to the body don't be. I will supply 1/4" worth of spacers for under the frame mounts if you need more clearance. With a 1 off bumper this is not needed but with a production it is good to have some adjustability as no two vehicles are exactly alike.
