Curious...after the redesign.....

What is the final weight of the bumper with all the mounting hardware?
(not including da stinger, aka hoop bar, aka dear catcher..:).
I believe the weight of the new aluminum front bumper is 52lbs without the bullbar.

I believe that’s what Ben stated in one of his Instagram posts a while back.

Not sure if that factors in the weight of any hardware (nuts and bolts, etc.)

Top of page 6, he said he did a full redesign on the bumper. Seems odd he has not replied by now.

Ben is definitely still around and working hard. Just spoke to him at the end of last week and put my order in for a front bumper. Kabanstva I think is right on with the weight. Ben told me the weight on the phone and I remember it being just over 50 lbs.

Spoke with Ben last week regarding my build as well. If you look at his No Cut Rear Bumper post he has posted updates there. He has a small operation and the guy has been busy with a 200 build. So lets allow the craftsman some time. Perfection isn't built over night!

I had the same idea: flip up license plate mount over/above the fairlead. @benc any ideas?
Will have one soon!

I just got a Factor55 1.5" fairlead to use with this aluminum bumper. Which size bolts should I get to mount it? Anybody know?
Not 100% sure but the bumper will except 5/16-1/2"

A little bit confused. Is it the same front bumper listed on your website at $1075 for LX470?
That is the steel. The aluminum is $1575

About 55lbs.

Sorry for the lack of replies, but yes still here and extremely busy!
I leave myself about 2 hours every morning to reply to emails first and then threads, Tacoma world, ih8mud, Instagram, Facebook etc. then I head out to the shop for 10-12 hours.
I have said before and I'll say it again the best form of communication to make sure you get a reply is email or call. I typically don't have enough time in the day to monitor all the social media unfortunately. I try to reply on the rest but no guarantee. I can typically reply to an email the next day and if you don't here back in 2 business days I probably missed it. I appreciate your patience as we are 3 guys pumping out 2-3 bumpers a day, packing, developing, cutting, bending along with installation and custom builds.

Finally got my Dissent aluminum front installed.

Quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Some observations/questions...

-For me, best fit was without using any spacers

-Had to drill out two holes to remove some of the powder coat/clearance the aluminum to allow wings to sit flush with center section on allen bolts

-Not sure if I used the supplied hardware in the correct locations?
8 bolts without shoulders used on top plates (1 of which is too long-internal bracing doesn't allow for enough clearance). Easy enough to buy a shorter bolt.

6 bolts with shoulders used to attach wings to center section through end caps. Two of these bolts are longer than the other four making for a bit of a weird look (pictured below) so I will pick up two shorter ones, unless Ben tells me where I mucking this up.

-Wish I could get the gap between the bumper and body a little tighter out on the wings (~5/8-3/4" currently) but no big deal, unless you have any tips Ben? The wings have a slight downward angle as they project out from the center section to the fenders so the gap widens the further they go out.

-And I need to paint the visible strips of metal between the bumper and the body/trim piece below the headlights. I'm thinking of going with a color similar to the bumper but could also go with black or OEM white. Any votes for what would look best?

i went with white. that way you don't have to worry about having two different colors on the body.

i do agree and the first thing i noticed were the gaps at the wings. it doesn't look right.

Thanks. I'm not sure how I can adjust to get a tighter gap.

I thought about using a thick grade 8+ washer on the front bolts of the frame mounting brackets between the bracket and the frame to give the whole thing a bit of forward rotation.

Maybe Ben can weigh in? The pics he posted, the wings definitely sit more flush than the way you have it installed. You don’t want too flush, you want a gap, but the gap on yours looks inconsistent.

On another note, how did you figure out what bolts and hardware go where? Aren’t there instructions?

No instructions with the bumper. I referred to the thread below. There are some small differences in hardware but pretty easy to figure out, although I guess I do have those questions about 2 bolts that don't seem to work.

I had the same issue with the top cap. The bolts supplied where the wrong ones. Email Ben. He sent me the correct size and cleared the gusset fine.

Just sharing my aluminum front. Installing the front caps for the wings were a bit tight after powder coating. Had to bang on it pretty good with a rubber mallet.

I recommend maxxima 3 lead bullet lights. Pricey but 5 yr warranty and I used them for parking and turn lights. Unfortunately they don’t come in clear.

Same experience I had. No spacers, two of the bolts we're too long, I drilled my holes slightly forward to clear the front grill so I can close the gap. In hind sight, maybe drilled them closer and used one spacer.

Edit: Other than the top plate bolt being too long, my front cap bolts we're correctly sized and I had exactly six longer bolts

@Lugee - How are you mounting your license plate? I can't seem to think/find any good solutions. Thanks!

sorry for the hardware mix up! We had to change up the hardware for the aluminum and didn’t get it right the first time.
We are dialed now. Let me know if you want me to send you some. As for the wing adjustment, you can loosen up all the cap bolts, top plate bolts and the two socket head wing alignment bolts and that should allow you to twist up the wing a bit. I truly apologize for the lack of good instructions, something I really need to put more time into!

I will hopefully be doing a run of flip up mounts soon!
