Depressing the tab on the connector and am unable to remove the cable. I have lowered the steering column to gain more access and still no joy. Sugestions please. TIA Jim

this is because your leaning the cluster out way way too far at the angle


the white plastic depression tab must be pressed and it pulled off when both cable and cluster meter ceramic extension are in-line and straight ....


your binding it bad here = NO removal


make DAM sure u disconnect the B+ battery cable terminal too here fyi

Yea; what Matt said.
I've found that even with the cluster still installed, my cable still needs lifting to make it free to slide off - make sure the cable has some slack in the engine compartment.
Its very fiddly. It really needs a bigger hole in the bulkhead.
Take your time and don't break it!
 
Thanks ToyotaMatt and 45Dougal. Laid the cable out flat over the engine bay and out it came. Much appreciated guys!
