I'm trying to track down a short in the dome light circuit, from my understanding that circuit provides power for the stereo and cigarette lighter. the stereo is stock, all the dome lights are clean. It doesn't look like anyone has installed an amp. The fuse blows instantly even with the key off.

I wish I could help you. I have a 4 amp draw that I cant find. I've pulled every fuse and relay and found nothing. But if I pull the three fusable links, it goes away. Just today out of desperation I put one of those keyed battery switches on those three links to save the battery.

I'm interested to know what you eventually find.

Had the same issue recently. One of my original George's LEDs developed a short. Replaced and all good.
Pulling the fusible links removes battery power from the circuit, so yea, that'll prevent the fuse from blowing, but you won't be able to start the motor either ;)

So far I have found two burnt wires, one in the fuse box under the hood, replaced the bad section, the secon is the same wire but at the left kick panel that runs up the A pillar, I unplugged it and now my clock and radio works but no sunroof

I'm pretty sure I have it narrowed down to something in the headliner. There is a 4 wire plug in the left kick panel, I cut the burnt wire and everything works besides dome lights. Pretty sure I have to pull the headliner

Jumper that wire from the point that you cut it up to the dome light. If it works ok then tape it onto the old wire and pull it thru the A pillar. Don't know if it will pull free but worth a try.
