There are 7 different versions of Jump Seats. I am trying to figure out which one we have:

1) - 1963-1969 - This is the long style that has 2 bolt holes per a leg. This style of Jump Seat is not meant for an FJ40 that has a Roll Bar. It will not fit correctly with the Roll Bar.
2) - 1970-1973 - This is the long style that has 1 bolt hole per a leg. This type of Jump Seat is not meant for an FJ40 that has a Roll Bar. It will not fit correctly with the roll bar.
3) - 1973-1975 - This is the short style for roll bar type FJ40. These have a bad tendency to brake at the joints.
4) - 1976-1977 - This is the short style for the roll bar style FJ40. These have been set up with a slightly better bumper design. They still have a tendency to break easily at the joints.
5) - 1978 - This is the short style for the roll bar type FJ40 that is an excellent upgrade for all the earlier year FJ40s. These are black and have a fold down support leg that help to prevent the breaking at the joints like the previous years and versions of the Jump Seat for the FJ40.
6) - 1979-1981 - This is the short style Jump Seat that is meant for the roll bar style FJ40. It is a bit updated from the 78 style with a steel bottom plate that is at the edge instead of the inset.
7) - 1982-1985 - This is the short style Jump Seat that is meant for the roll bar type FJ40. This has been updated to have a smaller fold down leg.

Short jump seats started in 74 and believe yours is a 78. I think in 79 there were grey but I could be wrong. Let’s ask @Living in the Past
9/73 US required a roll bar and jump seat were narrower to fit. As early as 3/77 the folding leg. Folding leg started. The rubber bumper that rested on the wheel well until 4/78. 1/79.color.did switch from black to gray. Information is getting harder to find every time the parts system is updated. Things get grouped together or deleted. The early nineties SOR price list have some very good information that harder to find else where if you don't have the information saved.

The pictures by what I have available are 3/77-4/78. I have an identical set from an early 78.

Any idea on what year/setup this is from? I just ended up getting a set but have never seen the angle before. Thanks in advance.

Think that's style 2. I have them in a '72.

Anyone know what years of the type 1 had these tabs?

i think it's the earliest type 1 seats that did not have these tabs. Specifically, what did 1965's have?

My cruiser is registered as a 1978 and it was built in 11/77. The front seats were black and the rear jump seats were grey new from the factory. We did not have the folding legs but we did have the rubber bumps.

The angle was "cut" into the front of the bench seats to provide clearance for the change to front bucket seats. With the bucket seats all the way back, they avoid interference with the bench seats ability to fold down.

Like all revisions "land cruiser", all changes weren't perfectly synchronized. For Instance, the wiring harness for my rear round combination brake/signal lights incorporated wires for the future change to later model red/amber/white combination lamps.

The parts fiche seem to indicate that 6903 - 6908 were one style, 6908 - 7010 were another, 7010 - 7209 a third, and 7209 - 7309 were the final style for FJ40's before the advent of the roll bar.

7209 appears to be the start of the bucket seats. I believe the notched rear seat was adopted to accommodate the profile of the bucket seats.

With roll bars, there were various versions. Note roll bar versions were not LH - RH like previous versions.

If a FJ40 used two bolts at each location there will be two fixed nuts at each spot on the tub. This ended between 9/67 and 10/69. Thinking it was during 1969. I see the 8/69 change but on the site I use it also shows maroon color which the US did not have. My 9/67 jump seats are gray. They removed over forty years ago when I installed a 79 roll bar with 76 jump seats. I still have them and still have the original upholstery.

You didn't mention the 61-62 style...making for 8 versions of jump seats.

I have never seen a FJ40 the the VIN started 2~FJ40 with the front leg bracket on the wheel well. I have two 62 production FJ40 tubs, neither has them. Had two 61 production FJ40. Both have the front arm rest. One was rusted out the other one I still have. I still have the jump seats from the rusted out one along with the front brackets off the wheel wells.

I'm wondering what's different in the '61-'62 style. I see only that the ''feet' are smaller. This ran to at least 1965. I suspect that when tabs went on, the larger two bolt feet also started.
