Difference between 80 and 105 1FZ-FE Block?

After watching numerous videos I can see that the 105 block has a horizontal rib in the cavity that the 80 does not. I am in process of trying to source these blocks if anyone has any info

Got a pic of what you're referring to?

It’s in this video.but you have to know your block in order to see it.

Terrible camera work in that video, made me fùckin sea sick!

Was super tempted to use a 4.8l Spool stroker kit in my fzfe that needs a rebuild.
$$$ stack up fast though. The kit is just part of the whole cost though

You talking about this

I have a 115 stroke crank and had holes in block after clearancing. Block has since been scrapped due to an accident at machinists. Now waiting on a 105 block which I think may have more room

Which crankshaft? What displacement does it give you? 5.5 litres?

The one I was looking at was 101mm stroke. 4.8l.
I started looking at it as the engine I have needs a new crank, and block needs some machining regardless.

I think to make it worth while, I'd want to add crank angle and cam angle sensors, COP ignition, mildly port heads, stand alone ECU, injectors, throttle body, MAF etc etc etc
Rabbit hole for sure!

Yes. It has been stalled for a while but here it is.

Hi, I have a complete 1FZ-FE engine from a 105 model 2006, can I put it in a 80 model 1993? Has anyone done something like this?

Don’t think it is going to Be that easy, yes the engine will bolt up but it’s the electronics you will have to deal with. Also different transmission so you will need that associated ECM. Your new ECM won’t work with your truck. I believe there is some threads on this being attempted. Does it have coil packs or a distributor?

Looks like coil packs

105 has 3 coil packs, each pack does 2 cylinders in a wasted spark configuration
